Bernard Hopkins obviously has great boxing skill and knowledge, both tactical and strategic, that he has gained through his long experience in the game. His graceful display of sportsmanship after last night's bout indicates a fondness for the next generation of those who would dedicate themselves to his craft. Imo, it would be a great waste for him to become a promoter when he decides he's done in the ring. He should train young fighters. Money? He has money and (to hear Larry and Jim tell it, at least) the frugal discipline required to allow it to grow and make him yet wealthier. The fame that he so obviously enjoys could be much more honorably pursued as a trainer.

Bhop, if you're out there, create for us (the fans) a small army of mini Bhops to run around and propagate your excellence!!! Mochate' buey...

    Thoughts?

Yeah I think your right, Hopkins would be a superb trainer especially if he could keep his rambling down a bit. His knowledge, technique and fitness would be an inspiration to upcoming fighters I think.

Agreed and great thread. Hopkins' mental mastery of the sport is unmatched, in my opinion. He would be great helping fighters to achieve their best in the ring.

Should happen now. There's nothing left to proove and he'd be one hell of a trainer.

That's what I think too, but after the great show he just put on I bet he wants to fight some more. Maybe he thinks he can move up past Hagler or whoever he feels is ahead of him on a consensus ATG list or some such thing.

He'd be a total DISASTER as a trainer, and he's said this himself. The people are around him seem to agree too.

Hopkins is not normal. If someone can produce an example of a fighter as completely abnormal as Hopkins who went on to be a great trainer, i'll reconsider, but it probably won't happen.

it would be great to see B-Hop training but Hopkins will probably get into promoting and make major money
