first of all. is it me or are boxing shoes expensive as ****? personally i use wrestling shoes myself since i wrestled in highschool. but honestly whats the difference between the two if anyone knows. also has anyone used or owned a pair of reebok boxing gloves? personally i fancy reebok over other tennis shoe brands. id deffinately get a pair of reebok boxing shoes if they made them. but im just tryna make sure the gloves arent trash and worth the 30-40 for a pair. dont want to head back in the gym and destroy them a few months down the line gettin ready for the golden gloves. thanks in advance.
I use asics wrestling shoes, theyre half the price of most boxing shoes and theyve been good. As far as reebok gloves I never knew they made them so i cant help you there but everlast training gloves are only 40 or so.
yeah ive checked out the everlast ones. they are alright and offer strapped and lace up ones. but yeah reebok sponsors amir khan and has gloves. ive always used asics wrestling shoes as well. looking at a cheap all white pair now since i need some new ones. thanks for the input.
Yeah, boxing shoes are expensive. I use Adidas, I like higher shoes with more ankle support and obviously there's a style difference too.
i also preffer the higher shoes with ankle support but dont have 80-100 to spend on some boots. i dont even spend that on regular shoes or boots so thatd be just stupid.
If you check out the ringside or Title boxing catalogs,(they are online too)you will find some boxing shoes that are more reasonably priced to go along with the real expensive ones. Wrestling shoes and boxing shoes are similiar, but they do have differences. Both are lightweight so you can be light on your feet, but the soles are made different. Boxing shoes have a smooth sole so that you can step and slide easy on the canvas with your footwork, with just enough traction so you grip the canvas with your feet and dig in with your punches, but not too much so that your feet don't get caught up in the canvas and slow you down.
ive checked those and sent off for my catalog. saw some a few years back that were adidas and about 40 or so. does it have more padding like a walking shoe or is it real thin like wrestling shoes? thanks
Boxing shoes are more comparable to wrestling shoes. Many people in fact use wrestling shoes for boxing they are so similiar.The big difference being the sole. Boxing shoe soles are smooth on the bottom so you can step and slide easy on the canvas, and provide you with just enough traction so that you dont slip and fall, and you can still dig into the canvas for footing and traction. Wrestling shoe soles are more made for the demands of wrestling, and usually have more traction on them. Boxing shoes are really are not like sneakers at all. The only thing you can do with them is box with them. If you tried to do roadwork with them or play basketball with them, you would destroy them within a week.
reebok gloves are fine for training, ive only seen the 14 ounce and they are not very popular in boxing gyms yet as far as ive seen, but they seem to be ok quality and are reasonably cheap (in europe) prob worth a try
