:huh Hopkins was contemplating moving to Heavyweight to fight Maskaev. Jones won a Heavyweight title, so did Toney. Yes this thread is for real :deal
I think if Hopkins put on some bulk and came in at maybe 195 (he was 181 against Tarver and 180 against Pavlik), he might have a chance at a UD if he really played it safe and picked his spots. Haye isn't exactly a high output guy right? And Haye's big weapon is the right hand right? If Hopkins took away that right hand, how would Haye win?
BHOP is masterful boxer and has a great chin but lest not be stupid now. Haye has serious KO Power and decent speed and skills. Hopkins would laid out on a stretcher if he fought Haye. Mormeck is a very tough, durable strong guy and after 5 or 6 rounds those powerful body punches by Haye broke him down. The same would happen to Hopkins.
Well, Haye also has a pretty forceful jab and powerful hooks....also, he's not too bad a boxer for himself. His size + skill might make it tricky for Hopkins. Honestly though, the reason Jones fought Ruiz and Hopkins was going to fight Maskaev was the achievement rather than competition, Maskaev would've made the Pavlik fight look like the 1st Taylor fight. Of course he can bang but I can't see him beating Hopkins. Haye though.....I don't want to vote. Still, more interesting thread then I'd previously thought
Mate, size does matter. Haye is far too big for Hopkins and would stop him, brutally. Hopkins struggles with speed. Haye has that in bucket loads, add in brutal brutal power. It would be a domination. :-(
Master boxer has nothing to do with it when your getting hit with megaton punches. BHOP wont be able to avoid Haye forever and at this satge in his life he does not need that kind of fighter. I am a true BHOP fan and dont want to see him get hurt and would prefer he either retired or had a fight (=semi exhibition) against RJJ.
Didn't you know? Haven't you heard? Hadn't they told you from the beginning? NOBODY stops B-Hop! (except for natural heavyweights I guess )
I'm going to go ahead and pick Hopkins here. Haye's great advantage is that he's quicker and has more power than his opponents. He's not particularly skilled (he throw really wide punches), though his reflexes are quite good. This will help him beat up most of the heavyweights out there... I like Haye; I have big hopes for him as a heavyweight. But, in a mythical match up with B-Hop, Haye will not bring much that Hopkins has not seen before except more power. Hopkins defense will get him to the point where Haye gets tired and then B-Hop chops him down. We already saw that from a much lesser fighter than Hopkins.
Bhops is not as slick as RJJ or Toney, and Haye is basically a HW, he weighs 210+ on fight night, I see Bhops getting stoped in this one.
