The whole situation. When he made the comment it got blown way out of proportion. To be honest no one gave a ****, not even Calzaghe, but obviously the media got stuck into it, like they always do. Im white and to be honest, it was hardly offensive. He just referred to him as white boy, thats it, who cares?

That was annoying enough, and now claims that the judges didn't give it to Hopkins as a result, is even stupider than the original incident.

 

Actually he said "I will never lose to any white person, quote that."

Obviously it doesn't matter in the long run to anyone other than those stuck up on race issues.

RJJ was also probably kidding around so it's not worth getting worked up into a lather over either way.

That's funny, I distinctly remember seeing Jones being interviewed directly after the fight where he said that he felt Calzaghe had won.

I also saw him being interviewed on Steve Bunce's boxing hour a few weeks ago where he criticized Hopkins for excessive holding in the fight.

I agree. What alot of you dont seem to understand is that although boxing is the best and most competitive soprt in the land it is a dirty and corrupt. That comment wouldn't have done Hopkins any favors at all.

 

excuses iv heard so far:

-joes facial expression following the fight
-the "white boy"comment
-hopkins wasnt conditioned right(which is funny because beforehand it was common knowledge he was in the shape of his life)
-corteez,the judges,ledderman,foreman etc are all biased
-he won due to cleaners shots (all 4 of them)
-and now a jones comment being blown out of proportion

people overlook the fact joe was fighting in america,new weight etc for the FIRST TIME against a dirty masterful tactician and was able to neutralize and work him out like no one ever has from round 4 onwards,but no he gets no credit what a shocker!

i have no doubt a rematch in wales with a calzaghe "in the know" with regards to hopkins would be a more convincing fight with the welsh lad stinging the **** out of him for 12 rounds.

 

It was a close, but good win, yes. Although Calzaghe should be able to adjust, I don't see him "stinging the **** out of him". I could see him shutting down Hopkins like he did in parts of the first fight, perhaps even for the entire fight, but not nailing him with flush shot after flush shot.

Some have said the Kessler fight was closer, but just for quick reference, if you take a look at any Calzaghe highlight on youtube, you'll see him nailing Kessler with plenty of flush shots; however, from the Hopkins fight you'll see the pelvic thrusting, and perhaps a flurry with one or two punches grazing Bernard.

So as I said, Calzaghe might dominate, but I doubt he'll bust up Bernard's face.
