yes the first fight was ****, but thats not the reason why calzaghe wont fight a rematch. its to much like hard work,if hopkins fights better this time around, then calzaghe has his hands full. he could only just about manage a bad version of hopkins. everyone says calzaghe didnt fight his best fight, but nor did hopkins, far from it. calzaghe may have tired him out towards the end of the fight but in the early rounds, nothing from hopkins apart from the odd counter here and there.

His workrate is definatly the problem but there is no way that he can put up the right workrate against joe. he will get countered if he does.

his best hope at another massive payday is if Jones wins and he gets a fight with Roy.

An angry, highly motivated, peak condition Hopkins could knock Joe out. I'm not saying it would happen, but it could. It is possible. Hopkins has displayed power against Pavlik, Calzaghe and Tarver in the past couple of years, flooring the latter two. I feel as if he never pressed for a KO because he was worried he would gas out with the effort at his age, but he seems to have taken a lot of confidence from the Pavlik fight and looked far more aggressive in that one.

I think Hopkins is dying to beat Calzaghe and would really go for it. I think he would definitely beat Joe if they fought again, and although I don't think it'd be a KO, it certainly is a possibility.

Bernard said the he wasn't interested in Dawson as Calzaghe was his target and he would KO him wherever the fight was held. He also said that he believed that the judges beat him in the first fight and not Joe Calzaghe:hey

hopkins won't trouble Calzaghe in a rematch. Calzaghe figured him out after the first few rounds and knew what to expect. Hopkins has always been highly motivated for fights so that is not an issue. Neither is his fitness. people tire against Calzaghe because he does make people miss a lot. he pivots around a hell of a lot and that tires opponents who keep having to move. he is very good at commanding the centre of the ring. Although he slaps, the fast hands can dissorientate.
I think a rematch would be very similar unless hopkins decides to come forward and play the agressor, in which case as we all know, he would be playing into Calzaghe's hands. Under pressure is where he fights at his best.

    Are you for real?
Ducking? he's already had him once.
I see what's going on here. Cos he knew Pavlik was a tart and decided to have a big money showdown with Roy, you have now found another fighter that you insist he must fight before retirement? Old news.

Joe Calzaghe is retiring after his fight with Jones Jr. That's why he won't fight B-hop. He has nothing to prove on that front. Get over it!!!

A split decision win where he got dropped on his ass, and now the guy is calling him out? If Calzaghe wants to further improve his shoddy resume and his legacy, he would take the fight. If he wants to end his career by beating up a shot fighter for money then get into retirement so neither Hopkins nor Dawson can take his zero, well then history will judge him on the resume he has now. It will not be as kind as you guys think at this present moment in time.

your talking bollocks! he didnt fight pavlik, not because he was scared but because he didnt want to lose his 0! he could of and should of been the one to do the job on pavlik, then people would get off his case, but he didnt have the balls to risk it! and pretends he knew pavlik was easily beatable! why didnt he do it? calzaghe could of proved somthing, but he didnt, now who cares what happens now becuase the majority of people will slate calzaghe, forever!!!

if joe is to have any rematch it will be against roy jones jr, thats if calzaghe loses, which he could well do. (jones stated that he wanted it to be a trilogy)

I don't know who's sadder, Hopkins or his nuthuggers. He lost, clearly. He had his chance and he was out-fought, and out-thought, which probably pisses him off more. Move on.

Being more aggressive doesn't necessarily mean being the aggressor. If anything, in the case of Bernard, it would mean occasionally leading, i.e. mixing it up like he did against Pavlik, and not solely fighting on the back foot, like he did for almost the entire match against Calzaghe. Furthermore, you should remember that almost every time Calzaghe got Hopkins into exchanges, Joe did get the worst of it.

No no - honestly your right, Joe has achieved nothing in his career, he deserves to be slated for already beating Hopkins, taking a big money fight and retireing undefeated - your spot on!

Your a hater and will only be happy if he got beaten. :patsch
