8 oz gloves didnt do **** to Margarito anything higher may even have made Margarito more confortable after every punch if the gloves were 2 oz more cotto still would have felt em.
Agreed! That was his other demise....his PRIDE! I heard of PR PRIDE but I saw it displayed in full when Marg and Cotto faught. I think his Pride won't let him box for 12 rounds with Marg....If cotto gets hit he wants to respond...what he should do is stay calm, composed and stick to boxing, IF he really wants the best shot at beating marg. I just don't see him being able to do that though.
forget the gloves he lost because, and why mayweather would beat him, actual boxing skills are limited compared to mayweathers, no defence what he was doing running away instead of fighting on the front foot (what hes best at and known his whole career) gased himself out and i also question he was in the best shape of his life when u look at fighters like marg and mayweather, and just general ring smartess when to hold when to go to the body and to attack and cover up, all things mayweather would do just to smart!
Wow, people criticising Cotto for boxing, instead of outright running. Lets get this straight, Cotto never planted his feet and went to war with Margarito for any real stretches in the fight. What Cotto did do is used alot of lateral movement, continually through the rounds stopping on a dime and firing combinations as he then moved lateraled again. That my friends is called boxing, not the running some of you Cotto supporsters would in hindsight because he lost, like to have seen from him. Cotto fought a brilliant stylistic fight, but be honest with yourselves, Margarito's best outright beat Cotto's best!
I live in Los Angeles, and in my younger days, the guys out on the basketball courts took to calling me Divac or Vlade, because I had a beard just like him. .....anyways, it stuck.......it came to the point that the guys around my neighborhood started to use the name divac to refer to me. This was way back when Vlade Divac was the Lakers starting center. Divac is no longer how people refer to me as......well, once in a while, I'll run into one of the guys that I played ball with way back, and yeah, he'll say, "hey Divac!" .....and thats the story of why I chose my forum name! :hi:
