If it was so clear, why did 1 judge have it for Hopkins? Joe Calzaghe, Lennox Lewis, Jermain Taylor are all overrated. When did we get to the point when all you have to do to beat a champion is survive? Spinks-Holmes, Leonard-Hagler? At least in those fights the marketable fighters who were given the decisions by the Networks, er um judges, did possess and display world-class BOXING SKills. In Calzaghe's case, he was so sloppy and lacking of any high end skills other than grabbing and slapping that I can't see how any judge saw it 116-111. I guess with Harold "Ray Charles" Lederman sitting 20' away screaming out his impartial scoring couldn't possibly influence the judges. HBO once accused Don King of influencing the outcomes of fights by his hiring of the ref, judges, for big fights, paying their freight with class-A rooms, etc.. They would in theory not want to blow the chance of being invited back so why go against the marketing plan. Well HBO has taken it to the next level with some of the decisions I've witnessed. Calzaghe has been cherry-picking fights for years. Most casual observers who saw that fight with Hopkins, laughed in disbelief at the decision. Why not fight Hopkins again? It will make money and as the uncle of the real P4P king says. "if it makes money it makes sense". Why not fight Pavlik? I don't see Calzaghe beating Tarver, Pavlik, Dawson. Hell, he may not be able to handle Talyor. I guess blaming all of the ant-Calzaghe people on ant-British feelings is easy. But, all I see is more revisionist history, like Britain won WWII with minimal US help. If Joe "the new el Pollo" Calzaghe had fought Roy, Hopkins, or any other of the World-Class fighter in their prime he would be better prepared for this fight with Jones. Even though he probably would have lost a few, his skill level would have looked and been better against Hopkins. Look at his homeboy Hatton, same game, brawler with limited boxing skills, but because he never, ever ducks the best. He fought tough guys all along with wins. Now that he has fought the P4P king, he will surely come out better against future opponents who have superior BOXING SKills. I like Calzagghe's persona, but he is delusional about his skills and his fans have been bathing in the Kool-aid. Roy smells money in a fight with Hopkins so he will be aggressive besides the fact Calzaghe has said he is going to knock Roy out and has been calling himself the legend-killer. The only legend he has destroyed is the "Legends of Joe Calzaghe"
