You and me both. We missed out on one of the most warranted and best fights that could have been made since Eubank vs Benn.

"Domestic" opposition is factor when you're at British title level. Somebody like Jon Thaxton or Ryan Rhodes. When fighters move up to fight at world level they tend to get a bit past that "domestic matchup" thing and so do most of the fans except the ones whose boxing view extends solely to the British stage.

Hatton must be laughing his bollocks off, Witter's get rich quick scheme has gone well and truly down the pan. And I quite like Witter as a fighter, even though he can stink the place out at times. I just wish he'd tried a bit harder to make a name for himself off his own back instead of revolving his whole career around trying to make his name off Hatton.

The guy had the talent, he has shown it in spurts, but wasted too much of his prime dicking around fighting twice a year against the likes of Fred Kinuthia and Jurgen Haeck. Even now, when at the age of 34 he really has to move quickly if he's gonna be anything again, there's no word nearly six months after he lost his title. If he carries on like this I'm afraid he will go down as a mere footnote in British boxing history.

Witter should fight the winner of David Barnes v. Colin Lynes

Hatton was wrong to duck Witter so blatantly. Most hardcore boxing fans will remember that.

Witter could and should have done more himself. But its difficult when you've been written off as boring after that one early career performance.

Ajose should have taken a Witter fight for peanuts, he's 29 and needs to get his name recognized ASAP.

Well if the reports are accurate Olusegun's financial demands mean he won't be facing Witter in November. So much for being "Mr Avoided"!

Think this would have been a good opportunity for both fighters. Decent comeback fight for Witter and Olusegun would be facing a fighter ranked higher by the WBC instead of appearing in yet another 6 round non title affair - also gave him the chance to back up his words after calling Witter out earlier this year.

I'm quickly starting to think Olusegun and his pal that posts on here are a waste of time. I think he's talented and could do something in this division, but they are all mouth no trousers.

I don't believe for a second they can't get a fight that isn't a step up from Alex Spitko, and every fighter in world boxing is ducking them. The kids good, but not that good. He's shown flaws.

To be fair, Witter had quite a few stinkers besides besides the Zab fight. Most hardcore boxing will remember that,

They may well. But it takes all sorts in boxing. It doesn't really make Witter any less deserving to us the boxing fans.

I'm just making the point, how boring he looked on occasion is of no real consequence to us. Why do we give a **** how much money it makes or whatnot?

Witter was deserving of the fight on several occasions throughout his career, far more so than many of Hatton's opponents. He undermined himself severely by fighting that lot.

"Undermined"? It won't matter a monkies. When Hattons career is looked back on, he'll be remembered for beating Zoo, losing to Mayweather and how he does against either Oscar/ Pac or JMM.

Like it or not money does count in boxing and if Witter had had more marquee value then he'd have been in a better position to force a fight with Hatton. Hatton had some poor opponents pre-Zoo and it would have made sense to fight Witter then but after Zoo who really gave a **** about the fight besides people with anti-Hatton agendas?

After Tszyu he fought some other garbage too. Like Maussa and Urango, but we were all supposed to care about the shitty belts. Yet when Witter got hold of a belt it still didn't matter, according to him.

Hatton undermined himself at every stage. By fighting crap opponents pre-Tszyu, that brought no money or fanfare and then using them as an excuse. I could guarantee Witter would have been more financially rewarding than the majority of his fights outside Tszyu, Castillo and Mayweather so that doesn't wash.

He never had a legit excuse except for when fighting those guys. Not one good excuse. Not there can ever be an excuse for letting a guy 50km down the road getting within touching distance of you in the rankings without ever having fought him within 40 odd fights despite him wanting it.

    Maussa: World titlist
Urango: Fighting for a title and looking like it going to be an underrated win for Hatton

If they are the worst 2 opponents post-Zoo then Hatton hasn't done too bad. A Witter fight would have been nice but its not the big blot on Hattons career that certain people seem to be desperate for it to be.

It is. It would have been his second or third best win had he got there before Bradley, so that is complete and utter nonsense. If Hatton had this huge depth of resume you might have a point, but as it is Witter would have filled some of the void.

Look what an event and buildup Enzo Maccarinelli - Haye got. People claim Witter is a nobody, but who the **** was Macaroni really? The event was huge as a British domestic clash.
