Well we can take Pavlik off there, as he doesn't deserve 3 belts, we can add Calzaghe and Hatton to the list, so its 3, we should add Haye as he vacated 3 titles which haven't been snapped up, we should also take Paulie off as Hatton will beat him ( or did he not put his title on the line?) and the rest are just keeping the belts warm.

Still as a lot of boxers come from poor backgrounds and a life of crime, again, with your population, and high poverty ( 50 million live below the poverty line in the USA) and crime rate, you should still be dominating boxing, where as we tend to produce footballers, rugby players, cricket, show jumpers etc etc, few people take up boxing on a national ratio.

Whatever angle you look at it from, the USA lags behind in just about everything unless it be negative aspects of life, but Britain, we exceed expectations on all fronts.

Witter annoyed me the most, calling Hatton out all the time, then put in that shoddy display against Bradley, I couldn't believe how bad he looked, especially after the way he dominated his previous fight, I started to have high hopes for him, then completely dashed by that atrocious display!

According to your source.. Joe and Hatton both hold belts.. I am going by the link you gave me.

Pavlik may very well duck everyone now he knows how limited he is, so Kessler may never get the chance to rip those belts from his greasy mitts.
Haye well, he left the division after dominating it, so we all know he is the real champ at Cruiser, he hasn't even fought a fight since his Cruiser weight win.

Sorry didn't we finish 4th in the Olympics? with an impressive medal haul for a sport that is drastically under funded especially when compared to your funding ( not forgetting the nations above us all dwarf our population) didn't we win the world cup in Ruby 2003? finish runners up in 2007, and a final appearnce in 95, and semi's in 99? not a bad record by anyones standards, and that England alone, imagine if we teamed up as Great Britain! Football, again, we have the most taxing league in the world, playing far more than anyone else, which is why our club teams dominate the sport, come Internationals, we're usually played out, but we are and have been a top ranked team for x number of years.

I wouldn't expect you to know much about gentlemans sports such as Cricket, Polo, Show jumping etc, so little point there.

You also qoute from the Times, a very left wing anti British paper, that conducted a survey in a very down trodden area of Britain, I could question people at Eton and stake a claim for the happiest, welathiest, fittest youth in the world.. but it would be a small selection, like they used.

Besides, lack of time eating meals with their parents? they wouldn't even know who their parents were in the USA, isn't the US the highest rate of teen pregnancy in the world? there are so many flaws in that fabricated survey.

I instead point to our History, academics, achievements, and contributions to the world, which is second to none, including a good old fashioned hammering of the USA army in the only war we ever fought against each other.

It surely was an ugly fight. As an American, I witnessed the Jeff Lacy fight and I told people then, Calzaghe exposed Lacy as a one- dimensional fighter. But, I was totally unimpressed with Calzaghe's boxing skills. Having said that, I thought Bernard's comments hurt him in a close decision, but what hurt him more was his believing he could win theoretically. Just because you know the guy is not hitting you doesn't mean the judges don't. Out-slicking a guy does not always work. As for the low blow. I don't buy it. It probably hurt, but B-Hop was buying time no doubt or trying to influence ref to take a point in the event of a second one. De La Hoya did the same thing against Tito. He outboxed him, but misjudged the tenor of the fight and went on cruise control. Hopkins beating Pavlik now calls for a rematch with JC to prove who did what. What is Joe afraid of? It wasn't even close according to a lot of the comments I read here. If he is so good as he claims to be, adjust and knock him out next time. That is what WORLD-CLASS athlete's in any sport are able to do. The guy is overrated. Now he says Pavlik is no longer worthy of a fight. Why not? There is no lock that JC can beat Pavlik. Hell, he wouldn't beat Tarver or Dawson. He might even find it hard to beat Taylor. This guy cherry-picked fights throughout his whole career avoiding the top guys. This hurt him in his fight agains Hopkins as his lack of WORLD-CLASS skills was revealed. The 1 time he does fight a top guy, past his prime mind you, he hears controversy. Well go out and do it again. You can't call yourself a "legend killer" by slapping your way to a controversial decision. I would surely be impressed with a knockout of Roy. He could then retire a deserving Hall of Famer in my opinion. I think he gets knocked out in a rematch against Hopkins. The only legend Calzaghe has killed is "The Legends Of Joe Calzaghe"

 

I havent read all five pages of this thread so if Im repeating something that some else has touched on, Im sorry..

How many of us remembers all the talk that came out of the Tito camp going into his fight with Oscar...talk that there was no way that Tito could win a dec in Vegas, saying that it was Oscars home away from home. It was hardcore and effective. After all judges are human, and can be swayed by what people say.

With that being said Im not sure that I agree with Jones on this one. But things happen.
