Hard to say..I value Angelo Dundees' opinion. and he said they were both excellent....should anyone on here care who was/is/should be/could be better at their best? I know they both were and still are great:D

No way Joe is as fast as a prime Roy Jones, go to YouTube and type in Roy Jones and watch him train on the double end bag. Then watch his fights and come back and realize that very few have ever equaled Prime Jones in the handspeed department.

    Fu*k no.

RJJ clearly outclasses and possibily even KOs Calzgahe if he decides to go for it. Come on now, we are talking about PRIME RJJ here. One of the most gifted athletes to have ever put on a pair of gloves.

    I think it'd be a 8-4, 9-3 type decision for Jones.

A prime Jones would have ko'd a prime Calzaghe within five rounds. Jones at his best was of the best fighters I have ever seen. I dont think Joe would even touch him at that stage of his career. Sadly Jones aint at his peak anymore so Joe is the favorite going into their upcoming fight. I am rooting for Jones greatly but most likely Joe will win by UD.

    Agree with Thread title.

Joe would have lost but in a competitive fight.

RJJ in his peak would have smoked Calzaghe, and like all other of RJJ's opponents in his prime it would immediately be assumed that he was never any good to begin with. Calzaghe is a good fighter. RJJ is an ATG, and the gap between them prime for prime is ENORMOUS.

The gap between the two isn't as enormous as you think.

Both have boxed all their lives.

Roy relies on pin point punching.

And Calzaghe relies on work rate.

    Calzaghe has an iron chin.

Prime Roy had one shot stopping power, nearly impossible to hit, much faster than Joe, in fact he was much better in just about every possible way you can measure it. Quit kidding yourself. RJJ would make him look average.
