Theres a fighter who you never hear of anymore. But Yauqi Lopez was a helluva fighter. I think he'd have handled Andrade. He was bigger, faster, and more skilled in his brawling style.
No, Lopez is still alive. He's Native American. Galindez is the guy who was killed in a crash. Yaqui is the guy who had those 2 fights with Saad (amazing rematch), also lost to Spinks, Scott, Galindez. He beat Rossman.
Round 8 of Saad-Lopez 2 was chosen by The Ring as one of the 12 greatest rounds ever. [YT]DggkEODYxkU[/YT]
Damn, And i (having never seen lopez before) was lead to believe he was a brawling toughguy type fighter when he showed excellent technique in that fight. I'm only 36, so I was watching cartoons when that era was going on. Drat!
no Bute is not. His style is different. Bute has a lot of advantages over Andrade and Andrade has a few over him, Lopez was similar to Andrade, just better in every way, plus he was a bigger man. Andrade has nothing on Lopez.
Good logic. Nobody in the history of boxing beats Andrade because he's simply less skilled, and being more skilled gets you nowhere. You've opened my eyes.
Man what a fight that was. Both of their fights in fact. Muhammad almost guaranteed a great fight in his prime.
