How would today's crop have fared against the Sanchez that defeated Gomez and Nelson?

Who wins the following matchups and why?

    Salvador Sanchez vs Erik Morales

Salvador Sanchez vs Marco Antonio Barrera

    Salvador Sanchez vs Manny Pacquiao

Salvador Sanchez vs Juan Manuel Marquez

I actually for some reason think Marquez would be the toughest match for him there, at least stylistically.

Sanchez was a very smart and adapatable fighter but did sometimes give away rounds whilst working a guy out. In the end he finishes all over JMM and maybe stops him but it would be tough for a little while.

I am a big Pacquiao fan but Sanchez will be a nightmare for Pac. Pacquiao struggled against Juan Manuel Marquez who is a counter puncher like Sanchez. Here is the thing though, Sanchez is longer than JMM, faster, better puncher, and hits harder. Pacquiao will be lucky to last 12 rounds with him.

No, look at his style in the ring. Sanchez will most likely KO him.

    What?

Gomez, Nelson, Lopez are all ATGs in a lot of people's books. Cowdell, Ford, Laporte and Castanon were all well regarded, and many went on to do better things.

Sanchez had the resume of a man 5 years his senior.

Pac beat a fading Barerra, edged (and he did) Marquez and knocked out the great 3K battery at feather (losing to a faded Morales in his next fight).

I don't know anyone who calls Danny Lopez as ATG. A terrific puncher, but far from an ATG.

Barrera was closer to his prime in 2003 than the 13 pro fight, short-notice Nelson.

Sanchez probably beats them, but all are competitive.

It might also depend on how they are considered before the fight. Sanchez had a tendency to fight to the level of opposition, but stepped up for the big bouts. The Pacquiao in 2003 that destroyed Barrera, who was a big underdog and viewed as a smaller fighter stepping a level too high, might upset Sanchez.

The Pacquiao who'd made his name more, that would be a big event, and Sanchez would prepare better. Sanchez would probably win that. Pacquiao could give Sal problems, especially in the early going, but Sanchez would control the fight later on. Sal was a sharp counter puncher and Pac leaves a lot of openings.

Maybe not an ATG I agree..thats for another thread. But he was a big name on Sanchez's record and though his own resume was not the best he did beat Poison. Twice if my memory serves me.

The main issue if that harper is proving to be quite ignorant on the topic.

Sanchez beats them all. He fought to the level of his opponent, and he would thrive against the likes of Barrera, Morales and Pacquiao. He could do it all.
