Most intimidating currently is Vitali. Most "my sh!t don't stink stare" however goes to Wladimir. Both are very effective. One makes you think you are about to get the crap kicked out of you, and the other makes you think this guy knows he's going to kick the crap out of you. Any way you look at it, you are getting the crap kicked out of you.

Guys, you have to see Trinidad vs DLH for the stare down that Trinidad gave Oscar amd his dad was telling Oscar to look at Tito. Then, when they were touching gloves, Tito hammered Oscar's gloves... to me, that was electrifying!

 

Bull****. If you have prime Marvin Hagler standing there staring you down because he thinks you stole something from him, you don't think you'd be intimidated? You know that you are going to kick his ass because you are six inches taller than him? I don't buy that for a second.

And skinny Hearns is a mere two inches shorter than you are. He sparked Roberto Duran with one punch, faceplanted the guy on the canvas while wearing a big padded glove on his fist. You think he doesn't know he can do the same to you, only easier?

On topic, I think the best staredowns are the cold, expressionless ones. A guy trying to stare you down like a street tough is just a guy putting on a front, unless he genuinely looks like a ****ing psychopath, Nigel Benn style.

For me, an important item in the fighter's staredown is his physical conditioning.

I always like Wlad's staredowns, and Zoo's as well. Both of them have the cold Eastern Euro look, and both were known for never, ever coming into a fight without training properly.

Neither of them try to look ferocious. They just have a very clinical, "well, training is finished and here we are, you are the next on the list, the next puzzle to be broken apart and solved."

That, to me, is the most intimidating attitude. Like the guy doesn't even give a **** about you at all, except for the practical considerations of how to defeat you and then move on to the next one. You know his conditioning is finely tuned, and if yours isn't, you become scared by that.

If I were a pro boxer, I believe I would find that much more intimidating than another thug acting like a punk.

Then again, I would have been scared shitless of both Hearns and Hagler. Leonard as well, because of his overwhelming confidence. And all of those guys had the skills and reputations to back their staredowns, as well. Which is the most important consideration.
