Dawson needs to make himself a big fish because at the moment, next to Calzaghe he is small potatoes...:good
Not really bothered about Chad Dawson mate, you're the one that brought him up and are trying to construct ridiculous arguments that Calzaghe needs to fight him to gain some kind of legitimacy. I didn't realise it was all based on height! Chad Dawson must be a natural LHW (or cruiserweight, lol) because he is 6"3?! That makes Kelly Pavlik a natural LHW? And Paul Williams is a natural SMW. Who knew?! Your argument then is that neither Glen Johnson (who hasn't fought below at 168 or lower in 8 years) nor Roy Jones (12 years) are real light heavyweights, but Kelly Pavlik is because he's 6 foot 2? I see.
Calzaghe will not fight Dawson An FYI: Dawson is actually abit small for a LHW.....his camp has stated several times that he could make 168 without any problems.....
Maybe. I'd really like to see him fight Chad Dawson. That would definitely give us all a better idea.
The poll show that more than double the fans think Joe needs to take a chance and fight a real LHW in Dawson if he wants recognition as a LHW. I agree as well.
That is a technicality. He still hasn't fought a LHW and everyone knows it. Don';t think people will forget in the future. It is really simple and that is that. Joe - has - never - fought - a - LHW. Simple - and of course that will spawn criticism. He was critisezed heavily before the LAcy fight. He was still being criticised after the Lacy fight. With the Kessler fight all of that disappeared. He had now proven himself. With the Hopkins fight he had proven he could beat a 43 year old man. But he still haven't proven he can beat a real LHW champion. Fact, and double the fans agree.
What was Hopkins you ****ing idiot? The light-heavy champ. He had his first pro fight at light heavy, manny steward says he is a natural light heavy who drained himself to make middle for all those years and even though i dont agree with him all the time i certainly take his opinion over someone who has shown themself to be a complete dummy in a hundred or so posts.
What about "longest reigning champion at MW" don't you understand? Anyone with half a brain a a little knowledge knows that Hopkins has been a carreer MW. Hopkins is taller than Joe and closer to LHW. However, Hopkins is dwarfed by Dawson. Look at the poll - most fans here know the truth. You are one of few that either A) hasn;t understood that Joe needs to fight a natural carreer LHW champ if he wants to be recognized as LHW champ himself or B) you are a Calzaghe fan who is scared shitless of Dawson.
Im confused by this poll. Do you think Calzaghe in ten years wants people to think "Calzaghe was a real LHW as well as a SMW, he beat Chad Dawson who is a LHW champ and wasnt a career MW like the other LHW's Calzaghe fought"!! He's retiring, his career was based around SMW and he always wanted to fight Hopkins and Jones and so is doing. Why does he need to "prove himself" by fighting Dawson, who is still relatively low on accomplishments himself? Much like he apparently used to have to "prove himself" against Pavlik?
The no option of the poll says "No, he doesn't have to fight a LHW to be considered a LHW" - what does that mean? Jones and Hopkins are and have been LHW's for a good while. Apart from Jones was a Heavyweight too. But he needs to fight Dawson cos he's bigger sized?? Does that mean Dawson has to fight at heavyweight before Calzaghe to show he's naturally bigger than RJJ?
Wait till after Slappy fights RJJ, hopefully RJJ can beat father time just for 1 night and KO this cherry picker.
I have Dawson in my avatar you brainless ****. Height has **** all to do with anything in boxing, Mike Tyson is 5'10 so he must be a natural light middle hey? Dawson has a small frame and can fight at super middle if he wants. You are easily one of the worst posters i've seen come here, it's uneducated, opinionated dumbasses like you that drive away quality posters.
he has to beat jones before there is any talk of possible nexts. jones may be more chinnier and bit slower than before, but he is still a top ten fighter.
