He fought like a sleep walking imbecile. Maybe if he had used any of his supposed skills or ring intelligence he wouldn't have gotten starched.

I'm not blaming anybody but the people are being disrespectful towards Mijares. I'm sure most of them are over the age of 15, they should be mature and put things in perspective. Mijares is a great fighter, hes proved that in the ring, and even when he got badly hurt in the opening round, he still got up and tried. Deserves great respect.

And for people who are saying Darch deserves respect - of course, but I don't need to make a thread about it because you losers only give the winner respect. It will come, regardless.

Respect to both fighters, I hope they do it again.

You think it was Darchinyan's style or just a bad night that caused these problems?

I overrated him big time. Still an exceptionally skilled fighter, just one who's mentality and arrogance are clear causes for concern. He was lured into a slugfest, hurt, frustrated, and unable to get back on track. I honestly thought I saw greatness in him, but he proved me wrong. It wasn't as if he just got caught or even was exposed technically, he just showed he didn't have it upstairs. I confused his supreme arrogance with confidence and intelligence. It seems he's a fighter who, when allowed to fight his fight, thrives, but one that can also be taken off his game, and at this stage he clearly showed an inability to cope when things got out of his control.

You're only backing up my claim that you're ******ed by talking about irrelevant things. It doesn't matter how Mijares fought, you still don't come out and talk **** about a great fighetr who just gave it his all.

    Why?!?

You don't need a rematch when you get a knockout and a shutout on the same night.

I understand what you're saying Sweet Pea, but he should be given the opportunity to bounce back before the verdicts go out. I hope he learns from his mistakes, looks for a rematch with Darchinynan and fight a different fight. I'm not saying he would neccesarily win but I think he needs redemption.

I hate to sound cliche, but this is boxing and it happens. You win some and you lose some. Vic proved to be the better fighter tonight. It doesn't mean Mijares isn't good, or was never good he just lost tonight to the better fighter. Mijares is still a very good fighter and if Darchinyan made a successful comeback at 32 I think Mijares being 27 has a good chance.

Sure. Could be. I'm not trying to say that he's done - my points are

A - He's going to catch ****. People have been talking about him, literally in some cases, like he is God. When he gets brutally taken shut out and stopped, he is going to catch **** on a boxing forum

B - There is absolutley no need for a rematch, just as there isn't a need to rematch Klistchko and Peter.

I think Mijares would want a rematch, and I think if he bounces back against some name opponents, he deserves one. Of course I mean if Mijares earns a rematch, but if he does, I hope he wants to see redemption as much as I do.

What is remotely great about Mijares? He didn't try for ****. He acted like he was sleep walking. He got up from a knockdown. Whoopdee ****ing doo. That's part of what makes you a boxer, and takes you to any sort of accomplishment, is the ability to take some sort of punishment. But Kelly Pavlik showed more grit in getting up from a KD and then stopping his man; not getting up and running around the ring not throwing punches for the rest of the fight until eventually being stopped. He would do stuff that worked and then stop doing it and return to running every time Vic threw something at him. That shows no willpower or mental focus, it shows he let his flight response get the better of him.

Props to Mijares...but its not too farfetched to say that he has been vastly overrated here at ESB. Dayaaam, he lost every round. He couldn't adjust....got outboxed by a supposedly inferior boxer. There was nothing about that performance that says he deserved all the accolades he had been getting. Wasn't there some guy here who was calling him a boxing god?....that knucklehead Amsterdam?

I still think he's very capable of winning if he's able to learn from this, keep his head on straight, and stick to fighting his fight, but while the jury is still out, he proved that I was definitely overrating him at the stage he's at now. We'll see what happens in the future, or in a rematch.

I fear this might be absolutley correct.

See the uppercut that caught him? He was trying to duck out of the way of the two lefts that had hit him previously. He was ducking a punch that hadn't been thrown - getting hit scrambled his thinking badly.

Although he has heart, unquestionably, he froze a little bit when he got cracked at that point.

One thing - he may have been "caught cold" and never recovered. Perhaps he was fighting in a bit of a fog. It happens. Like Schmeling-Louis I.

I'm sorry, I had no idea you didn't watch the fight, because if you did you would know that Mijares tried to get back in the fight. He tried to get his double jab going, and he hit Vic with some good shots in round 2. He tried to get back in the fight, and tonight even in defeat he accomplished more than you, sitting on your fat ass on the Internet.
