Mayorga would dominate from start to finish--about 3 rounds is all it would take.

Hatton isn't a welter weight, and he would have a huge disadvantage over a big welter like Mayorga.

Mayorga. He'd be eating Ricky's punches all night. Not sure if Ricky would be able to take Mayorga's punches though.

    Mayorga by KO

I'm so tired of all this whining about Hatton at welterweight. Hatton weighs in for fights at junior MIDDLEWEIGHT. If he really should ONLY be fighting at junior welterweight... then he should:

    1) Stop fighting at welterweight.

    2) Stop claiming before his welterweight fights that he's fine at welterweight.

    3) Dominate the junior welterweight division.

After he takes a beating at welterweight, claims that he never was a real welterweight, and that he should fight at junior welterweight, because thats his natural weight class. So he takes a fight at 140. The first time after going life and death with Luis Collazo (who is not even that good himself), he fights Juan Urango at 140 - and has a tough time with him. Then he gets knocked out by Floyd Mayweather at 147 (because he isn't a welterweight - even though by his reasoning, Floyd Mayweather is actually a junior lightweight... so he got beat by a guy two weight classes lower than him), so he moves back down to 140 and fights Juan Lazcano. He wins another hard fight, in the process getting knocked down, and getting visibly busted up and cut by Lazcano. Lazcano has no problem landing on Hatton. And btw, according to Hatton's reasoning, Lazcano was a LIGHTWEIGHT. Oh and of course, Lazcano wasn't that great either.

Hatton's fan say "Hatton is really a junior welterweight, he still is the undisputed champion at that division. Nobody can beat him there, he's dominant."

But he doesn't dominate, he has a hard time with anyone except for Jose Luis Castillo, who's completely shot it turns out. And anyway, it doesn't matter - because he was not a junior welterweight (By Hatton's reasoning), he's a lightweight.

Hatton does not automatically get worse as a boxer when he moves to 147. Physically, he should be STRONGER, with better stamina, and probably faster too. When he fights at 147 he still weighs the same on the night of the fight as he does when he fights at 140. To me, this obviously means that when Ricky fights at 147.. he doesn't have to GAIN weight to make 147.. he just has to LOSE less weight. So he should be in BETTER shape, because he doesn't have to cut as much weight.

Hatton stands just as much chance at 147 as he does at 140, the only difference is.. at 140 he's more likely to fight fighters who are smaller than him. Also, he's fought better fighters at 147. If Ricky continues to fight for much longer after this year.. he will move to 147 again. And not even chasing a big fight, it will be because he can no longer make 140.

If you want to talk about what weight class would be BEST for Hatton, it REALLY would be lightweight. He's about the right height for lightweight, has the right reach.. his measurements are about the same as many of the top lightweights. If Hatton stayed in shape.. he could fight at 135 easily, but he doesn't. He doesn't know how to take care of his body.

Fish and chips TKO 30 Hatton.

Mayorga WOULD be a handful at 147 today. I say the Mayorga that beat Forrest twice beats Margarito on points, as back then he wasn't battleworn and his chin was just as highly regarded as Margarito's.

Cotto-Mayorga could go either way. If Cotto can avoid the wild swings he can win on PTS, if he gets rocked, Mayorga will pounce.

Williams; very good chin, physical attributes as well; I'd say he beats THAT Mayorga on PTS, stops him now if they fight at the same catchweight that Mayorga and Shane fought at.

Am I the only person who wants to see Williams vs. Mosley???

Hatton was rocked but not dropped by Lazcano.

As far as I recall he beat Urango pretty comfortably on points, and although he had a few problems with Urango's strength (because he IS strong and a decent fighter) he wasn't hurt by one of Urango's now notorious power shots.

He had just three weeks for the Colazo fight, and whilst I think that Collazo was, not robbed but did enough to deserve more credit, Hatton performed well in the first half, for a man who is BIG for a WW and tricky as well. He's the same man the overhyped Berto is now avoiding and had previously fought Shane Mosley. Good fighter.

Yes, Mayweather beat Hatton, but it wasn't a Gatti-style beatdown nor a Corrales style scientific display. PBF was simply stronger than Hatton, that made him whole plan redundant, and later on Mayweather happened to catch him with a peach.

That sorta thing happens when you're fighting the P4P no.1.

I don't think Hatton's the next coming of Roberto Duran, nor do I think he could ever beat Mayweather, but he's a decent fighter with a huge fanbase, who is clearly effective as his opponents complain about his style. O do not buy into this John Ruiz of the 140 lb bull because Hatton clearly has decent footwork, a decent array of shots, and CAN box when he wants too.

Ruiz however, was blasted away in 15 seconds and is scared to get hit. And I don't hate Ruiz. Soooooooooooo boring, like, even as a huge boxing fan I would rather watch paint dry. But effective? Hell, yes, it can be.

Hatton is hated for not adhering to the sweet science but he IS exciting, unlike Ruiz. And even though Collazo was catching him left right and centre he took the punches. I don't think his punch resistance is half as bad as some people are making it out to be, he walked through Tszyu's right hand, and whether he was shot or shot, he'd recently destroyed Sharmba Mitchell and was clearly in decent shape.
