Because Kelly didn't come close to stopping Hopkins. He didn't land one good punch. Kessler is better, but he doesn't have what it takes to stop a guy like Hopkins. The people that picked Kelly to stop Hopkins are crazy, the same with the people that picked Calzaghe to stop Hopkins, and same holds true for people that think Kessler would stop Hopkins. There is no perhaps, it's not going to happen. I'm not coming down on you, I'm simply explaining why others have.
I can never warm up to Hopkins...I used to be a big fan culminated on his KO of Tito. But after that, he became too passive in the ring...actually havent seen him as active as the Pavlik fight in years...Right there was my frustration...Had he thrown as much towards Joe, then he would have won...His style is frustrating..an offbeat fighter but a high ATG no doubt
I think there is a good chance that Kessler wins. However, I agree with you in that I don't think he will KO Bernard. He may have the best chance of the possible opponents out there, but it is still is a long shot. I think they are 50-50 to win on points, and 60-40 (kessler-BH) to win on KO. However the fight is 95-5 to end on points.
That's a fair assesment. Hopkins has frustrated me at times, it started with the first Taylor fight. He decided not fight for the first 6 rounds or so before putting it on him in the second half. He was way too passive against Calzaghe.
Your analysis fails to take into account the fact that Calzaghe DID NOT LET BERNARD fight against him the way he was able to against Pavlik. And therein lies the problem with all those who have tended to consistently undeate Calzaghe's greatness.
kessler needs to earn a fight with ther likes of hopkins. i know he wants those fights (winky, hopkins, pavlik) but they aren't going to come to him.
Yeah, the former WBA/WBC champ with one loss to the best ever 168 lber, needs to earn a fight with over-the-hill Winky and ovehyped Pavlik ? Of those you mentioned, only Bernard is higher up the pecking orde than Kessler.
