its a cowardly fight for Calzaghe to take

he knows now he has the confidence to square up to Roy Jones and look at him eye to eye confident of victory

and then claim to be the best afterwards

but he didnt have the confidence to fight him years ago did he

Calzaghe is a brave fighter and got bags of heart and courage

But for this fight - more so if it is his last fight - its a cowardly fight to take

I have to say that i'm a pretty tough critic of Joe but one thing that I have to say is that he is such a nice chap. I've never met him but know people that have and they all say he is one of the nicest fighters they've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He comes across so well on these programs. I love Jones he was a child hood hero so i'm perhaps hoping theres enough magic left to get the upset but I wouldn't be massively upset if Joe got the win so long as both end the fight safely. What great guys, credit to themselves and their families.

Bit harsh that mate coming from a jack and welshman as well.

It's not a cowardly fight to take it makes the most sense for lots of reasons.

Why are you so hard on Calzaghe yet believe Enzo is the best thing since sliced bread?

To be fair, Enzo had balls to make a fight with himself unavoidable for Haye. He got KO'd, but he didn't shirk the challenge, in fact he was the one that ensured the fight was made.

I don't think anyone could claim that Calzaghe did his best to secure the biggest fights.

Roy Jones has openly admitted he thought the risk reward wasn't big enough to fight Calzaghe.

Hopkins pulled out at the last minute with a deal almost done.

Who else is there you dont think he did his best to secure fights with?

There was an interview with Jones on Setanta a month or so ago and he was asked why the fight didn't happen sooner (nearer their primes) and he said that he was earning well defending in America, Calzaghe was earning well in the UK and they were both happy doing that.

    Because I liked Calzaghe

    He is the real deal

    A welshman

    A 100 % winner

    and heart and fighting pride

but the way he is closing out his career is leaving me with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth

everyone knows Roy Jones is shot

he might look in good physical shape

but so do 55 year old body builders

    it dont mean anything

he is way past it now

his decline was quick - and a good few years ago

I'm disappointed as this was the biggest fight out there I wanted

Roy Jones Jnr V Joe Calzaghe (from 1997-2004)

but now it is happening in 2008

    its like

Joe you ducked the ultimate challenge and now waited til he was old and past it

where is the glory in that?
