You have link for that offer? Just searched it from Google and didnt find it. I founded couple of articles Wladimirs offer tough. I hope you are not referring that 1,5 million dollar offer as Toneys career high payday. By the way after that 1,5 mil offer, he voluntarily but hes mandatory title shot on the line against Peter. That doesnt sound like a guy, who is afraid of fighting top guys in division.
If thats the case that would be good news. Povetkin could be the future of the division. But he's not beating Big Bad Wlad now. Give him a few more fights and get Klit another year older. In 2010 this fight might just be interesting. Right now Wlad smokes em.
Sam Peter is garbage and the fact that Toney lost to him twice including getting badly outboxed by Peter in the second fight speaks volumes.
Of all the fighters on your list, only Ibragimov and Chagaev are established world class boxers who are seasoned enough to fight for the title. Neither is available to fight Vlad. Chagaev is tied-in with the WBA and looking at another Valuev fight soon. Ibragimov was beaten easily by Vlad recently in a boring fight and nobody wants to see a rematch. Dmitrienko currently has a high rating, but he is totally untested on the world level and he'll need more experience before talking about a world title fight. Arreola is even less experienced than Dmitrienko. Bidenko's entire career has taken place mostly on the clubside, and he has no world class credentials. Johnson and Solis are so inexperienced that they are not even on the world title fight radar screen.
I agree Toney is a joke. When was the last time he won a meaningful fight? I can't even remember. 2 losses to Scam Cheater says it all...
Hasim Rahman take the fight. Povetkin injured? What injuriy did he have? Nothing proof yet. He is scared to fight Wlad.
I don't think Povetkin is scared. I think its more likely his handlers realized he wasn't ready and pulled him out. Povetkin will now have at least one year to hone his skills before he gets a fight with Wlad.
Think about it. That same garbage is supose to be a greatest victory in Vitalis resume. What a joke he is.
I dont see anything wrong with it. He needs a fight on short notice. All these people talking **** about it need to consider that he already had a fight planned and now he has to find a new opponent on short notice. There arent that many options when you only have a month to plan it.
Bidenko would have been ok with me but it's an HBO fight and you can bet they wanted a more known opponent and Rahman fit the bill. If you ask me, HBO and Wlad lucked out with Rahman's availability cuz he's still a name fighter and the short list of replacements was just that, very short.
If Wlad wants to fight someone with a win over Lennox Lewis, Oliver McCall would be a better choice. Rahman is far to chinny, and his chin is getting worse each fight! Sure McCall is old, but he'd be willing to walk through a few bombs and try to win. Of course in reality, Wlad should be fighting Valuev to unify.
Wlad had to fight his mandatory: After compliance with his mandatory defense obligation, throughout the remaining term of a Heavyweight Champion’s reign, he shall be obligated to mandatorily defend his Championship within intervals of no more than nine (9) months against the leading available contender in the Heavyweight Division as designated by the Championships Chairman.
