isn't Dirrell WBO#1 contender? I read somewhere that he was. Can't see him going to Germany for the Balzsay-Inkin winner anyway.

I'm not sure. It was a good idea to go for the title. He could have ended up out of work and inactive if he didn't have the WBA title. Soon someone good will want to challenge him for it...

When an American star comes through -whether it's Dirrell, Jacobs, Ward, Taylor, Pavlik or whoever - Kessler will be the most credible of the champions and US TV will hopefully show interest.

He doesn't have a choice. His contract for the Berrio fight had a clause that said Bute has to defend the title against one of Sauerland's fighter if he won the fight.

He won and now he has to honor the contract. the name of Larsen has been in the cards for months. Even before Bute got into the ring with Andrade.

I'm aware. I said it wasn't his choice.Regardless, it's still an unneccessary fight for the guy.

What's the point of fighting a title eliminator if you're not willing to fight the champion? :huh

As so often before you ae spot on Maxime. Kessler doesn't want Larsen because he doesn't feel Larsen has deserved the fiht and there is not enough in it for Kessler. Kessler is thinking in terms of legacy and money, not only money. However, he has said that if Larsen beats Bute then it is a very intresting fight but until then, no.

If it was an elim, you've got a point.

I'm sure Dirrell is rated by other sanctioning bodies, and will keep his options open. I doubt he's ready for a title just yet.

Palle said he wants Larsen, and isn't so happy with Larsen-Bute, and so may make do with Kessler-Perdomo.

It's necessary if he wants to keep his title. :D

That's true. I agree that Sanavia was a bit unlucky. But these Germans do seem to get confident if they win home advantage.

I'd be happy watching Kessler school a young, strong fighter like Murat.

It has just been confirmed by Gary Shaw that Dirrell's fight against Oganov WAS NOT a WBO eliminator. It looks like Dirrell is going the WBC route, where he's just been ranked 6th, unless the IBF (10th) or the WBA (12th) rank him higher after his victory over Oganov. (Americans with big American promoters never go for the WBO, do they...if they're any good.)

Didn't think they'd want to go to Germany. Sounds sensible going for the WBC, if Froch wins the belt. Froch is hungry for attention. Taylor is the top contender and US TV are more interested in all this.

If Pascal wins, and the title ends up in Canada, Dirrell may well have to travel for his shot.

I agree, especially since Showtime would travel to broadcast the fight and since there's much more money to be made in Montreal.:good
