In the Hopkins/Pavlik fight, a good amount of people predicted Hopkins to win but most didn't explain how he would do it.

So here it goes with this fight. If you are CONFIDENT that RJJ will win this fight, here's your chance to explain how and why he will win so that when we get back to this thread after the fight, we can see if anyone was spot on.

Personally, i love RJJ but i don't see him winning. I hope he does but hoping is another thing from reality.

I predidcted the Hopkins Pavlik fight to mirror the Trinidad fight ..It did ..

I predict the Jones Calzaghe fight to look like the Toney fight ..Except with a more concentrated body attack from Jones ..

Good idea for a thread. Cant see jones winning though tbh, Joe definately wont be giving Roy the time and space toney did...

Now that is something i easily saw coming. I just didn't expect him to gas like he did but that's a credit to Calzaghe's relentless pressure which forced Hopkins to constantly be on the move.

Valid point ..I just expect Jones to be the busier in this fight ..This will be a very motivated Jones hell in the 3rd Tarver fight he actually could have beat Antonio but he was ****ing around ..

    That's a bold statement.

The RJJ of now is a completely different fighter from the one that fought Toney. Don't see it happening but we'll have to see.

The way to beat Calzaghe is to get him standing and trading - and use the right hand ALL the time.

You saw how Hopkins made Calzaghe look awful by getting him to chase him, and Kessler was winning until Joe went on the retreat.

Once Calzaghe is allowed to counter aggressively on the back foot, you have no chance.

Yeah but after watching Hopkins dominate Pavlik in the manner he did a Jones A caliber performance would not surprise me ..I think what we have seen from Roy as of late is more of him fine tuning himself for this fight ..I hope im right .I expect to see a fully focused Roy Jones and hope to see a brilliant performance ..

I also got the sense that had RJJ pushed on the gas, he would've beaten Tarver. But there's another side of me that saids that if he had expanded the energy to try to win the fight, he might've gased out. Rounds 4 and 5 in that fight was almost vintage RJJ. Stunning Tarver with his blazing combinations.

I hope you are right. I hope RJ shows up. He's my all time fav fighter.

    Roy ain't stopping Calzaghe.

He hasn't stopped anyone decent for SIX years - some of them with lesser chins than Joe.

I predicted hopkins to win every round against pavlik and knock him out in the later rounds as i knew pavlik was overrated but in this fight I cant see how calzaghe can lose tbh.

Roy Jones Jr. by clinical UD.

I don't think Calzaghe will be able to do his thing against RJJ. While Kessler's technical style was made for Joe, I think that he'll have a hard time with Roy's unorthodox style. Bring back the Rooster baby!

The only way I see Calzaghe winning would be just by sheer quantity of output...noneffective slaps, trying to steal rounds. However, I'm predicting that Roy will land the most effective shots, do the most damage, and put on a clinic.

The problem is everybody expect that for EACH fight. ANd he never does it (actually its like "Toney will be in shape this time").
Jones always shows some flashes of the good ol one. But those flashes are not enough. Hoping for Jones to pull the upset. But he won't.

He will sit on the ropes to much.
    He won't retaliate enough.
He won't throw combos enough (just 1-2).
    He will be outpointed.
Still, there will be some flashes who'll make people say: Prime Roy would have won.
    Maybe.
    We'll never know.

PS. If i am wrong, i'll be so happy!
