2 of the most gifted & hardest to beat boxers ever.

Which one was the best at their very best ?

Gotta go with my man Roy. Roy would do whatever he wanted to do in the ring

Whitaker in my eyes, he was slick and fast and outclassed almost everyone put in front of him. Jones is also a great but i think at the ultimate peaks whitaker just edges it.

Whitaker was more technically skilled, while Jones was just as hard to deal with due to his amazing physical gifts. Two of the very best of all time in terms of ability.

I'm waiting for Rico to come in and say that Roy ducked Whitaker because he knows he would of got his Glass Jaw shattered. The Sweet Pea will post a picture of the creature from Mario Bros.

 The ***** never even attempts to come back at me either. His balls must be as proportionally large as his head.

 Probably. I remember the first time I seen the picture of him and the Creature thing, and I swear my ribs hurt from laughing. Priceless stuff.

Both guys were actually 4 weight champions & maybe it was even RJJ that came closest to 5.......
Pea won 135, 140, 147 & 154 titles.... Jones won 160, 168, 175 & HWT titles.... both only had 1 fight in their highest weight class as they were too small to dominate there but Jones beat Ruiz much easier than Pea beat Vasquez.... also, Roy completely missed out 190 (cruiser-wt) in order to win the HWT title, thats what I meant when I said Roy came closest.

Dont get me wrong, I have massive respect for both but I was just pointing out a couple of things that MIGHT give Roy the edge, thats might because I voted`far too close to call`myself.

Ps. Both guys gave 2 masterclasses & won virtually every rd in 2 of my personal all time favourite matches.... Jones-Toney & Whitaker-Ramirez II.

Some Pea fans prefer the Nelson fight & I love that one too but the Ramirez fight was just a 100% boxing lesson to me as was Rjj-Toney.

    :thumbsup

    Pernell Whitaker, IMO
Roy wasted alot of fight's against Nobody's...

It's ridiculously close in terms of ability, but to me Pernell was an overall more effective fighter. Given that each man is fighting an opponent of the same size, I think there are better chances for certain styles, whatever they may be, of beating Jones than there are for Whitaker. Very slight edge to Pernell (who was greater by the way, even if there is hardly anything seperating them in terms of ability).

I don't have time to go into why just now, will do so tomorrow, but I'll give my answer now: Whitaker. Close but clear.

Two of the most talented fighters to ever lace up a pair of gloves IMO.
