"I think the pressure that Joe puts on Roy is going to be very difficult
for Roy to keep up with. In his fights with trinidad and the other two guys he was constantly going to the ropes. It's a habit he's picked up as he's gotten older, and it's not gotten him in trouble because the guys he fought didn't have the workrate the calzaghe has. Against joe
roy will have to keep Joe in front of him and that's not roy's game these days. I like joe to win comfortably by decision. I think he'll impose his will on roy, not the other way around."

Well, there you have it from the legendary trainer himself.

steward has lost a lot of credibility in my book over the years. i don't really respect his opinion any more.

just before the klitschko fight, he said samuel peter was a "class a" fighter for crying out loud! i think that speaks for itself.

I dont see where in his comment he said Steward wasn't a good trainer because he picked Joe. I think he gave an explanaton. Even if you don't agree with it.

Emmanual Steward's resume speaks for itself. I think he's slipped off a bit as a top trainer lately but the man is in his 60's. Jermain Taylor is not a bright fighter and him and Steward simply didn't click, but after resurrecting Klitchko's career, training Hearns from the bottom up and training champion upon champion, someone calling Steward a bad trainer is clearly an idiot and knows little of the man's history.

The guy is in the IBHOF, and among many others from the amutuers to the pros, the likes of, Hearns, Oscar, Lewis, Holyfiend, Klitschko all sought out and had success or continue to have success (Wladmir) under Manny. Too say that he is bad trainer is rubbish and asinine. You're better of stating the obvious, that you don't like the guy, but if that's not the case than you obviously have no clue what your talking about.

    E. Steward is a good trainer, it is not his fault, Taylor did what he wants and not what Steward told to him during the fights!

    :good

Emanuel Steward is one ot the best trainers in boxing history. With him Wladimir Klitschko became a much better and complete fighter and Steward helped Wlad to become the No. 1 heavyweight although he lost to Sanders. He brings Wlad back. When Wlad had change to Steward before he lost to Sanders (Sdunek was his coach) maybe in 2001, he where now recognize as one of the best heavyweights ever, same Emanuel did with Lennox Lewis.

He is a great Trainer and Person!

Manny is a great trainer and resurrected the career of Lennox Lewis as he is doing for Wlad Klit. He also trained McCall to beat Lewis the 1st time and Holyfield's only win against Bowe was when Steward trained him. Fighters like Hamed and J Taylor were either too stubborn or not very intelligent in the ring to utilize Steward's expert advice. Plus even though Taylor had good natural ability he was never a "great" fighter and actually had poor stamina for a young guy too. I'm not even gonna comment on how Dundee would've handled JT.
