Shitty Euro fighter who never fought outside of Europe for a reason or solid fighter?

The 50 (37) - 2 interests me, anyway, considering his only two losses are...

A MD to Sven Ottke late in Sven's career. (Robbery? I have no idea.)

And a early career cuts loss.

So, really, in 15 years he may be potentially undefeated.

Not bad at all considering his opponents don't seem to be THAT bad.

    Anyone know anything about him?

He´s on comeback tour at the moment is a very solid fighter. A top 168 fighter who just came around in a bad time for him when Calzaghe and Ottke were around. His loss to Ottke was a deserving one. Ottke was clearly on the slide and Larsen could have won but he just didn´t anything in there. I was very dissapointed then because I thought Larsen would be the heir of Ottke as the number one smw - Calzaghe at the time just defended his WBO belt against bums while Ottke had two belts and the better resume. But he fell short by doing nothing inside the ring.
Very good fighter and he will get another shot at a title next year I think. And I would really like to see him win one and then face his fellow Dane Mikkel Kessler - who I also like very much - for a unification bout.

It's strange because even before the Lacy fight Calzaghe was far, far more well known than Larsen. Same applies to Ottke.

I wonder why Larsen is such an obscure fighter state side.

Don´t know. Here in Germany he was more known than Calzaghe at the time - and had a solid fanbase for a non-German.

Yes, at the time Larsen was at least as known in Europe as Calzaghe as Calzaghe really wasn't that well-known excepot in the UK of ocurse. Since then Calzaghe has fought better and better fighters and Larsen has been retired for several years because of legal issues.

the main reason he never built up his career was because of palle his promoter.
larsen and palle fell out on contractual issues and palle stopped larsen from fighting for about 4 years.

    as to larsen the fighter.

    plus points

    big strong man
6.0/musculer heavy build/counterpuncher/orthodox/very good fundamentals/good chin/good power in the right hand/good variety of punch/great v any fighter that comes onto him/very dominant and focused in the ring/did not showboat, but was focused and ready no matter what the opponet/

    minus points.

buys every feint and then resets/does not punch with the opponent but blocks/backs off /does not have the killer instinct or abilty to change his gameplan if plan a is not working/

if you are looking for what larsen brings to the 168 table watch larsen v haussler (kessler`s next opponent) for a beautifull dispaly of counterpunching where he boxed haussler`s head off.

he is or was a very good fighter whose career was put on the back burner because of morgan`s palle.

    Good stuff, thank you sean.

Any thoughts on where he ranks as a SMW in general, since it's not a division with a terribly rich past?

Im pretty sure I had him beating Ottke.

Was a decent challenger in his day, I have not seen that form for a while however.

Nah, he lost it. Ottke didn´t win but Larsen lost it. He did nothing that fight. He could have beaten Ottke if he had done something but he didn´t. I was very dissapointed because I rooted for him. Like him more than Kessler too.
