this is just ******ed losing to jones would make calzaghe look like a joke and there is no way jones looks like his old self again this would be his last big win he can no longer compete with the elite
it wudnt b the end of the world if joe lost really all the best hav , but all the true greats hav been beat and their legacy set because of it so i do agree to an extent but at the end of the day if he wins by any means and retires he has done enough in my book legacy wise anyway.....good points though :good
Just thought actually, best case scenario... Joe beats Jones and Jones then beats Dawson. Similar to Hopkins win over Pavlik. Calzaghe has then beaten the man who beat the man - twice!
It will always just be incredible from the current standpoint of Jones. Same as is with Hopkins. People are amazed what they are doing, because they take into account that they are fighters not longer at top of their game. But lets say for arguments sake, that Jones suddenly regains his past reflexes and incredible speed. It will still only reflect on Jones rather than JC. Calzaghes win over Hopkins will be considered a fluke win, because the way Hopkins fought - people will forget that it was indeed the perfect gameplan that 'Nard inacted. If Roy did indeed beat JC convincingly, how would Calzaghe even enforce a rematch? Roy would move onto Hopkins. JC can only fight adversity, if he gets a rematch. Yes, I would say that Roy would be elite still, if he could do so against JC, because I know that Calzaghe isn't past it. Problem would though be, that many fans of him would consider him past it overnight; thus doing nothing for JC. But lets for arguments sake say that even if RJJ wins convincingly and he does rematch JC - and JC would win it, then people will go back and say that Jones just had one great last swan dance. JC would never win from fighting Roy, other than a bag of money - win or lose. Roy has talked about a rematch, because indeed he really has no chance of getting another superfight at this time of his career. The likelihood that Calzaghe will showcase that Roy isn't a world operator anymore will probably end Roys career right there, unless a presigned rematch bout is in clause. The best thing would be if Roy shows that he can still somewhat hang at top level, and therefore get the fight against Hopkins - ending both careers.
Bull****. That statement would only be true if the unbeaten fighter operated at the higher echelons. Being undefeated after fighting cans all your career would be meaningless.
Thats whats gonna happen.Roy's gonna once again put on a incredible show and everybody's gonna jump right back on on Roy sack:shock:
Well I hope were both right in that happening...jump on Roys sack? Its an odd statement no? I think many people will be happy but nuthugging Roy seems pointless as most are already aware of his greatness.
