Dawson was signed to fight him but Diaconu pulled out 2 weeks before the fight. Dawso has since moved on to bigger and better things. Diaconu is still a nobody.
How am I ****ing a moron, moron? Fighting Diaconu wouldn't make a star, but at least it would get his mandatory out the way, (thus a lesser hassle for future fights) and it would silence his critics that he couldn't beat a puncher.
Tarver or madatory who do you take??? Johnson or madatory who do you take??? Dawson signed to fight Diaconu and 2 weeks before the fight Diaconu pulled out and Dawson had to fight Epi Mendoza and completely wasted Dawson's time. MORON!!!!!!!
Hey moron gets the facts first before calling me a moron. After Dawson defeated Epifanio Mendoza, the WBC told Dawson that Diaconu was still the mandatory and he needed to fight him early 2008. After going through a tug-a-war with boxing politics including a canceled purse bid he finally got the match he wanted with Glen Johnson. The point is Dawson didn't need to go through all that and should of just fought his mandatory, and he still would of been able to fight Glen Johnson and Tarver later on. Dawson only got 800K in his fight against Tarver and many boxers consider Diaconu a legitimate threat including Hopkins. So fighting Diaconu would of silenced his critics and get his mandatory out the way, instead of going through all this hassle and dropping belts.
I don't buy Calzaghe at LHW. I have bought him as SMW. These old-guys fights are ok, but I want Calzaghe-Dawson. If Joe beats a real LHW champion, then I will rank him very highly on the LHW champs scale. Right now he doesnt rank at al from beating carreer MW Hopkins. Good win, but I don't buy it so much as legitimizing Joe as LHW.
Hey this is my thread don't tell me to STFU or assume I'm some dick rider. Arguing with you is pointless because you're too stupid to understand what I'm saying. Oh and I'm not a Diaconu fan.
Fighting Diaconu would not have made Dawson a star. However, it would have: proved his chin, proved his mental strength proved his decision making left him with the WBC belt and one million dollars richer allowed him to unify against Tarver in a bigger affair than their fight ended up as let him become the WBC and IBF Champion probably also meant there wouldn't have been a rematch contract clause against Tarver made him respected professionally and liked by the average fan, because he wasn't afraid to prove himself and to travel to defend his title on the road and because he kept his word to fight his mandatory A proven Dawson, the WBC and IBF Champion, would be the man to beat in the division and could be less easily ignored by Calzaghe and Hopkins than he is now, when he is still considered unproven. As the WBC and IBF Champion he could have fought Johnson in a rematch straight away, instead of having to vacate his IBF title in order to avoid Cloud, the new mandatory challenger, in order to fight Tarver again with no title on the line. He could have proven himself much better than Johnson the second time around, and if Hopkins or Calzaghe had fought anyone but him next, they would have de facto dodged him. As things are now, they wouldn't be dodging him if they fought someone else next. He is still unproven and less well known and liked than he would have been. He ducked a dangerous mandatory challenger, so why should they go out of their way to fight him?
I still think Dawson should fight Cloud; would prove his chin if nothing else. EDIT: Though to be honest, if Cloud hits him it could be lights out.
