LOL...the announcers said "all that weight Toney put on is weighing down like an albatross"!! And this is before Toney found out about BBQ...
Yeah, reality hurts. Just keep repeating to yourself while you go to sleep "ROY WAS IN HIS PRIME, ROY WAS IN HIS PRIME". Sadly, I'll have to ruin that for you, Roy has been shot since 2003, if you weren't born back then then welcome. I'll let your man tell it to you as well. Is there a movie called BACK TO REALITY?, you should look it up, present doesn't suck that much either.
he def looks quicker and sharper, but still doesn't throw much, wasn't this at a lower weight also. Check out Calzaghe in his prime when he used to KO people, against Eubank his punches were just as quick as this.Cant be bothered to link it,lol.
From Gatti to Katsidis, why am I not surprised? :rofl This content is protected This content is protected Blood and guts at it's finest, huh?, who cares about ATG status.
This was at 168, Calzaghe and Jones's prime weight. He didn't throw much because he was fighting a cautious fight against a dangerous puncher, relying on movement to control the pace of the bout. He didn't often need to fight on the backfoot this way, he was capable of pressing, going into killer mode, etc. Workrate isn't going to be the problem with Jones for Calzaghe prime for prime. Jones's movement, handspeed, power, and timing is not going to allow him to close the distance anywhere near as effectively as he did with that shell of his former self version we saw last night. And if he thinks he's getting the better of Jones in a flurry prime for prime, he's in for a rude awakening, especially given Jones's distinct power advantage. You guys don't seem to realize the vast difference between a prime Jones and the shot version Calzaghe just fought. It's ****ing laughable that anyone thinks that result holds any bearing on a prime matchup. Calzaghe's open to straight rights, and Jones's movement would allow him to dictate the pace while scoring lead shots, halting Calzaghe's pressure throughout the bout, likely dumping him on his ass a few times. Calzaghe is at every disadvantage in a prime matchup. His workrate, durability, and craftiness would see him to the decision though, and likely allow him to take a few rounds, but that's about as good as it's getting for him. And Calzaghe was never as quick as a prime Jones. Never.
Joe is at the peak of his skills, he's just slightly past his physical prime. There's absolutely no comparison to where Joe is in his career and where Roy is. Roy is completely shot and has been for the past 4 years, whereas Joe is generally thought to have been at his very peak 2 years ago, and has shown that he hasn't really dropped off at all unless he's in there with top notch competition. Hell, his physical ability hasn't even dropped off considerably. Comparing the two just shows a lack of any mental capacity or knowledge.
