"Give him a hand - he is the best fighter I have ever met"

Calzaghe said this about Mikkel Kessler after the Roy Jones fight. He elaborated saying that Kessler is the only fighter he feels could ever beat him.He said that he was ready to have gone to Copenhagen, but that he was very happy he managed to get the fight in Wales as he thinks that may have made the difference.

    Classy from Joe.

He continued saying that he would love to see a fight between Kessler and Hopkins asap. Yeah, that would be good.:bbb

Kessler is a tremendous fighter, and put some of the cleanest leather on Joe anyone ever has. Roy and BHop are better fighters than Mikkel, but Joe didn't fight them at their peaks as he did Mikkel Kessler.

Good for Joe to show respect to Mikkel and Roy.

I do not understand why so many fail to rate Kessler. Usually it seems to be because they had never heard of him before the fight with Joe, whihc to me indicates they'r really in no position to comment.

Kessler is looking to dominate SMW, Hopkins won't move down there.

Kessler wont move up for a belt, which is what Dawson and the other beltholders at 175 are, but he may move up or at least go catch weight for a legend which is what Hopkins is.

Kessler is a big SMW... so he can easily move up to LHW.... take the Hopkins match. Will Hopkins want to fight him? Does he equate well in a risk vs reward equation?

I don't think so.... Dawson vs Hopkins would make more sense money wise and also both are fighting at LHW already.

He meant exactly what he said. What is unclear about it?

Kessler is better known than Dawson. Calzaghe - Kessler is considered the biggest fight in Europe for several decades and was transmitted around the world. Many other Kessler fights have been transmitted around the world. Meanwhile Dawson, frankly, is just getting into the picture and is still largely unknown. Noone outside of the US saw Dawson-Tarver - which otherwise would be Dawson's biggest fight.

On a global scale, Kessler-Hopkins will be bigger. Nationally in the US, I am unsure which would be bigger.

Yeah, I thought Kessler was the man to beat Calzaghe. The only time I ever picked against Calzaghe in a fight.

Kessler has a really solid, accurate jab. I thought Mikkel would be able to control Calzaghe's flurries with his jab and punching accuracy.

Kessler is a really good fighter. Mikkel landed every punch he threw against Andarde, I have never seen a fighter get hit by so many punches in one fight.

Reid gave Calzaghe a closer fight then Kessler.

Jones, Hopkins, and probably Eubank are all clearer better fighters.

Many, including Joe, disagree. But of course you are entitled to your oppinion. Persoanlly, I think Roy's great natural ability gives him the edge. Hopkins I would favor prime for prime, but not by much at all. I would favor Kessler over Eubanks.
