Style wise i would love to see kessler v Dawson , Chad throws solid shots but then stops and does nothing for a split second before he regroups , if a tosser like me can see ths chi nk in his armour then a decent counter puncher like Kessler would exploit this weakness with deverstating effect , i realise Kess needs to clean house @ 168lbs first but its one to put on the back burner ..

Dawson a 'fad'? The guy is young and still learning his boxing game yet he's still beaten Harding, Adamek, Tarver and Johnson, he's past the prospect stage (everyone seems to talk about him like he is unproven and a guy who is coming up) and anyone who has seen him fight knows he has serious skills and physical advantages over nearly everyone. I'm a Calzaghe fan, i bought his book and i have his whole career on DVD but Dawson is unlike anyone Joe has ever faced, Calzaghe would get beaten up no doubt in my mind.

He did that against Johnson but against Tarver he was always slipping and moving. Kessler is one dimensional and fights in straight lines, he's overrated as a puncher aswell. It'd go the same way as the Adamek fight

Harding ? Adamek was struggling with his weight and moved north next fight as proof of this , Johnson is as game as they come but as skilled a fighter as a cow on an frozen pond , and please don't mention a forty year old shot Antonio Tarver . Dawson hasn't earned the right to get into the Mega Money Circle yet and should be trying to clean out the division of youngsters instead of fighting a 37 year old Joe Calzaghe .now don't get me wrong here i like Dawson but he takes naps in his fights and i would hate Joe to ruin another fighter from the generation below , Who are we going to watch after Joe retires , LACY ? no ruined by Joe , Pavlik ? no schooled by Hopkins but will return , we are running out of top newcomers because they are being rushed in and ruined by the older guys , years ago you had to serve an apprentiship , there was a reason for for this ...:deal

exactly , Fighting in straight lines would work v Someone like Chad Dawson . Underated Puncher is Kessler , if Calzaghe's beared wasnt what it is he would have Joe out of there before round 4 imo ...

Are you for real? Dawson hasn't served his apprenticeship? Who do you suggest he fights? You wanna take the negative road about opponents let's take a look at Calzaghes defining fights...... Eubank old and past it, Lacy a 5'9 muscled up hype machine that really struggled in fights before and after Calzaghe, Kessler hadn't beaten anyone (his list is far less impressive than Dawsons), fights in straight lines, isn't adaptable, fought with an injured hand, Hopkins came out of his rocking chair to drop Calzaghe in the first and lose a disputable split decision, Jones only 40 years old and shot to ****ing pieces (Compared to Tarver coming off a dominant win against a light heavy champ and still with plenty of stamina as evidenced in the Dawson fight) coming off a thrilling 8-4 victory over a fat retired welterweight  hurts Calzaghe then does **** all for the rest of the fight because his legs are gone (i was really shocked that Calzaghe couldn't stop Jones).

But really i give Calzaghe credit, i give Dawson credit. If they fight styles make fights and Calzaghe gets torn up.

Dawson appears to take naps in fights because he is so relaxed and unconcerned about his opponents. He didn't do it against Tarver though so maybe he respected his power more, i don't know.

You cannot compare Dawson to guys like Pavlik and Lacy, if you know the sweet science then you know Dawson is in another dimension compared to these one dimensional opponents who hadn't really fought anyone before they got beaten.

How's that, like Adamek fighting in straight lines worked against someone like Chad Dawson?

I agree with all of this, if ppl want to take the negative road against Dawson when looking at this young fellas competition then its a good comeback on Joes.

Dawson has some fantastic tools, but theres still a few things there that don't give me complete confidence in him.

If you were to pick a winner going by seeing highlight reels of the two, then Dawson would win hands down, but of course theres more to it than that, and Calzaghe is the right guy to expolit the *****s he might have in hi9s armour. Though despite Dawson's suspect chin, I don't think Calzaghe can stop him.

The fight wont happen though, and there should be no blame left on Joe for that because Dawson is still a green name, and Calzaghe is on his way out.

Dawson V Kessler is a much more mouth watering fight we can look forward to in the future, and who knows...depending on how things turn out, we may get to see a trilogy between them.

he (Calzaghe) should have fought RJjr about 5 years ago. RJ'jr would have kicked his ass!

The Americans are clammering for Joe to fight Dawson saying that he still hasn't proved anything beating up old men (Hopkins and Roy), Eurobums with padded records (Kessler) and hypejobs (Lacy)

To me the Kessler win made me a believer

I don't think Joe is the best of his era or anything like that, but he's a damm excellent fighter and well underrated

Prime for Prime, Joe still would have given RJJ everything he could handle. Roy might have won, but it wouldn't have been the slaughter everyone thinks it would have been
