I think Calzgahe/Dawson should be Joe's farewell fight, and in truth the fight probably wouldn't draw in the USA. Dawson doesn't attract fans, whereas in Wales the place would be on fire.

I think that he's got more than one fight left in him.
He has fought lacy and kessler (top competition) and thats all! Jones and Hopkins were to old and shouldn't be counted! To be a Hall Of Fame you need to fight the best, Calzaghe has defenetiliy been protected!

I don't know that...but I know that many Americans would savage him for fighting yet another Euro-bum, instead of their new golden boy.

Would you savage Calzaghe, if he chose to fight Bute next?

You know...some Calzaghe fans would still like him to fight Pavlik as his farewell fight!

DAWSON DOES NOT DESERVE A SHOT...period!!! He has not proven himself! Is he a proven fighter??...YES...but not WORTHY of a fight against one of boxing P4P just yet.

Joe should retire on top. He met all of his boxing goals and has nothing else to prove. Dawson still has alot of tests he still needs to past. He will be probably be KO'ed within his next three fights anyway with his weak chin.

I believe someone stated this on another discussion board but there will ALWAYS be another young up and coming fighter that some people believe the TOP fighter HAS to face.

People will always find an opponent for the elite to "solidify" their legacy against. Joe no longer needs to solidify this. Dawson has only been fighting pro since 2001 and Joe is 10 years older than him. The man has had tough fights one after another for years...all name opponents and has handily beat them all without controversey.

Dawson needs to prove himself against the likes of Kessler, Bute...hell even Pavlik or Jermain Taylor would be a good fight in my opinion. In my book Dawson should of lost the fight with Johnson, a 39 year old journeymen fighter who should retire as well before he gets brain damage blocking all those punches with his head.

All those Joe Calzaghe haters out there want him to turn old before their very eyes in a fight so they can alllll say that he was all hype.

Why doesn't a young fast up and comer deserve a shot? He's beat Adamek, Johnson and Tarver, who else does he have to beat before he deserves a shot, a shot Roy Jones?

How can u say Jones and Hopkins cant be counted. That is ridiculious to say. Jones looked great against Trinidad and he dominated him.

Bernard Hopkins just SCHOOLED a young Kelly Pavlik, who most were saying was the top middleweight in the world.

Give me a break man...give Joe some credit. DONT U GET IT...Joe makes EVERYONE look OLD and washed up...

Hopkins is a good win, but the Jones win proves nothing. Anyone with a pulse 154 and up looks great against Tito these days.

Like I said, Dawson needs to beat Kessler, Bute, Taylor, or Pavlik before he deserves a shot at pound for pound. More over, he needs to fight Hopkins. Hopkins will KO his ass with one counter punch.

Hell he needs to give Glen Johnson a damn rematch before he even thinks about Calzaghe. Johnson, a 39 year old journeymen with 12 losses had him on ***** street three times during that fight...

Many things for Dawson to do before he becomes the big elephant in the room:

    1. he needs to stop ducking punchers and prove his dodgy chin. His mandatory is now Cloud; he'll do.
    2. he needs to give Johnson a rematch and beat him clearly, without going out on his feet
    3. he needs to beat Hopkins, to prove he is the best LHW in the world, except Calzaghe
    4. he needs to beat a proven young all-round very good fighter, preferably Kessler

...then, yeah...he's p4p and the big elephant in the room who deserves to call out everyone and be taken seriously by everyone in doing so.
