Yeah...Dawson is a live threat; yeah, it could be a great fight, but so what? There are other live theats out there for Calzaghe, other good fights to make, so why do people go on and on about Dawson? Because Kellerman wanted his boy to get a shot? Weren't they hyping Pavlik for a shot at Calzaghe before Pavlik got schooled by Hopkins?

I am getting lost in the whole Euro/Yank thing? Why was Dawson never asked ONCE why he was repeatedly ducking his Euro MANDATORY CHALLENGER by US boxing journalists/writers?? But they had to make Calzaghe feel like a **** if he didn't fight their new Goldern Boy, right? How is that fair?:huh

No one is saying Calzaghe must fight Dawson, it's something that boxing fans want to see, because Dawson has been calling him out. Calzaghe is a great fighter and there is a reason why he's a future hall of fame fighter. Let me repeat Calzaghe does not need to fight him, but if Calzaghe were to continue boxing Dawson would be the logical choice. If he doesn't fight Hopkins or Kessler that is.

Do you honestly think your Romanian boys Lucian Bute or Adrian Diaconu deserve a shot at Calzaghe than Dawson does? No one knows who Bute or Diaconu is outside Romania and Canada. People go on about Dawson because he's a top 3 lhw and a future p4p fighter that's why, and most importantly it's the best fight that could be possibly made in the lhw division. Please have something ****ing logic in your post you **** head. As for Adrian Diaconu, no knows who he is, that's why boxing journalists never ask Dawson about him. It's pretty clear your just a bitter Diaconu fanboy.

Woodhall was on 5live just a moment ago saying he thinks Joe will fight on again but it may well be a goodbye "entertainment type" of a fight for the fans ("like with a Manfredo type character") rather then a current world champion.

They had Hagler on as well.

Entertainment fight? Hagler on? Is this mere coincidence? :think Hagler KO2

I sincerely hope that the idea of an "entertainment" type fight isn't a serious suggestion as something like this would really destroy Calzaghes already fragile reputation. If he fights it has to be a live opponent, or retire for good.

As for Dawson...he has decent physical attributes (significant reach and height advantage), he has decent hand speed and power. Whether this would be enough to trouble Calzaghe we would only know if both of them climbed between the ropes and got it on, anything else is just mere speculation and not worth a hill of beans.

Lol, for a brief split second as he came on the phone it did cross my mind honestly. Worse still I then thought, well how old is he now, could he possibly make a come back...

    Quote from Dawson.

"If Joe wants to have his grand farewell in Wales.I am ready to accommodate. My passport and world title belts are ready to travel across the pond. I'm ready to give Joe the opportunity to draw the curtain on his great career in front of his family and friends and 70,000 fans. It's the best fight in the light heavyweight division between two undefeated champions."

Hasn't he got that the wrong way round :think

Also you would think that Gary Shaw would be a bit more cautious after the last champion he brought over here.

As Dawson is the one with the straps, probably not.

Nothing bizaare about a mandatory asking for his fight, and respectfully at that! Too many people have been brainwashed by these ideas - a. There are no challenges left - Of course there are and Dawsons just one! and b. 'insert boxer' doesn't bring enough money to the table - The promoters must be laughing as they wipe their butts with $100 bills!

It's unbelievable isn't it, suddenly everyone is a mini promoter doing the work for nothing - asking for mega bucks for their favourite fighter to step in the ring; what happened! Boxing used to be about making, and taking the most competitive live fights out there to prove you were great - you get ripped apart for suggesting such nowadays.

Just believe that it is Calzaghe is the one calling the shots and not the other way round.

Fair comment. Dawson may also consider that a win over a 37 year old Calzaghe might not add anything to his CV. :hey

In a way you have to give respect to Dawson, and Pavlik (Lacy, and Kessler also, though they were slightly older): All young champions, all undefeated (or were when challenging Calzaghe) and all willing to travel to the guys back yard to take on the P4P best in the world around their weight.
