well after saturdays fight i was very surprised at roy jones hand speed, i knew he was still fast and faster then calzaghe at that but....i didn't think he'd be that fast, for a shot fighter it was dam impressive

and not only that but zab also suprised me, his handspeed is pretty ridiculous as well.....

so that brought me to this question, what current boxer has the most impressive combination of both speed and power, with all other things aside?

Why is Calzaghe not an option?

He is so fast it almost doesn't matter about power, combined he still comes out most impressive.

Calzaghe's punches are no more powerful than kisses.

never really had my eye split open from a kiss though. a perfect straight left is a different story though.

Listen to RJJ when he says his punches hurt more than i thought they would

In the sense of how effectively he applies it he is certainly in hot contention, but if the topic is simply how fast his hands are, and how much power he produces, even a past it guy like Jones rates far higher. Same with Dawson.

Obviously its a bit of a nothing issue because we saw in the fight just how ineffective Roy's quick handspeed and power was without all the other traits required to apply it effectively.

Haye and Pacman easily from that somewhat esoteric list

Zab Judah is a pretty strong candidate, but I voted for the Pacman.

Well Calzaghe has speed I give him that, but compared to other fighters on that list Calzaghe ' punches are sub par.

Also one more thing I have to add is that the best example of a slap-fest is the Calzaghe - Manfredo fight, its also in my view the worst stoppage in the history of the ring, yes even worse than Dokes-Weaver.
