    :huh Really ?

Lewis biggest fights were vs Tyson, Holyfield x 2 & Vitali.... Tyson was shot - not past prime but SHOT.... Holyfield was past prime & the big guy still struggled the 2nd time (even tho he 100% was robbed in the 1st fight, terrible decision).... & Vitali was giving LL all sorts of problems before the cut & LL retired rather than rematch him.

Calzaghe`s biggest fights were vs Eubank, Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins & Jones.... Eubank was past prime but had never lost as clearly as he did when he fought JC, even after vs the cruiser-wt Thomson he did far far better than in the JC fight... Lacy was in his prime, undefeated & took a masterclass of an ass whipping.... Kessler was in his prime, undefeated, was a much better fighter than Lacy ever was & JC showed his superb skills & versatility to win clear on pts.... Hopkins & JC cancelled out each others best work & despite Hopkins age is ALMOST as good as ever & JC showed his grit to come from behind to win close... Jones was not the same fighter as he once was but again, another decisive victory.

Also... Calzaghe was never KOd by a bum in his prime never mind 2 bums (Rahman & McCall)

Just to top it off... Calzaghe is a more versatile & talented boxer than Lewis was, the only thing LL might beat Joe in in a p4p sense is power punching, thats it.

Some cant imagine a H2H p4p match up if the size is so different but I can, if these 2 were in the same weight class with their same attributes & skillsets then Calzaghe would outbox him IMO.

Throw in the 21 defences if you need more convincing but I most certainly do not.

    :thumbsup

No fighter in boxing history has went thru their entire career without having close fights, the fact that his worse fights still resulted in wins should count for him rather than against him IMO.

Lewis did more than LOOK like losing vs Rahman & McCall... he got KOd.
He may have avenged those losses but there is no disputing that they should never have happened.

If memory serves me correct, did he not have 2 close calls with Mercer & Holyfield (2nd fight) aswell.

I respect everyones opinion but I will not be swayed in this debate... TO ME Calzaghe is better than Lewis period & I dont think its THAT close to be honest.

    :thumbsup

No way known should Calzaghe be above Ken Buchanan.

Ken Buchanan fought in his opponents' back yards his whole career and came out victorious. He didn't sit at home fighting trash for a decade and then decide to man up against good fighters that were 5 years past their prime.

He did get KO'd against both McCall and Rahman, but......

He should have been allowed to continue against McCall, and was dominating Rahman before getting cocky.

He had a couple of close calls, but as I have said, in my opinion never looked like losing.

Making 21 defences of what is essentially his promoters title is commendable, some of the defences are good, others awful.

I also pointed out that I like Calzaghe a lot, but in no way does he succeed Lennox Lewis.

    Absolutely none.
