Hopkins would be at #1. Look where he was pound for pound.

Hopkins has proven with the Pavlik fight to still be a serious threat. However I belive both men underperformed in their bout. You could say they cancelled each other out but surely if both men were honest neither Calzaghe or Hopkins would be happy with their showing. It was an ugly fight, Hopkins spoiling, playing the ref, constantly clinching throwing 10 punches a round and Calzaghe being very sloppy and careless.

Kesser/JC was a proper boxing contest, very high quality showing from both men.

Eubank is so high because of the circumstances, a young Calzaghe taking a major step up in class dominated a very experienced world class operator,

If Joe had fought better in that fight I would agree for sure, but that wasn't a great performance from Joe and the result wasn't very clear cut.

Eubank was on a losing streak towards the end of his career and struggled with the weight, a good win for Joe, overall definetly, because he was green. Eubank doesn't have a particualry good resume and was only ever a WBO champ. Hopkins was a top ten, maybe five?, P4P when he fought Joe, Lacy was a World Champ, the next big thing.
I'm not saying it shouldnt be ranked that high, I'm just asking you why you think it should be? thats kind of then point of this forum, debate etc.

IMO, the Jones win is pretty far down the list.

    1. Kessler
    2. Hopkins
    3. Eubank
    4. Lacy
    5. Reid
    6. Mitchell
    7. Jones
    8. Brewer
    9. Woodhall
    10. Bika

Jones was completely shot, and knowledgable fight fans all knew that before the fight was even made. Peak Reid would have beaten this version of Jones. Reid may eventually pass Lacy, although I'm still convinced that the Lacy win is a better win than what Lacy has shown subsequent to his loss.

    1 Hopkins
    2 Kessler
    3 Eubank
    4 Jones
    5 Lacy

Having that version of jones in the top five means you have a shitty resume

i agree about the debate thing mate, just wanted your view cos i was too idle to write anything else.

the eubank win was a very good win imo. eubank had lost twice at that point but they were 2 very close decisions to collins. i think calzaghe entered this fight as the under dog and eubank still had an aura about him. it was great that calzaghe put eubank on the deck cos we know he had an iron chin and i just thought joe boxed very well that night and it was his 1st world title. he was really the 1st man to decisively beat eubank.

i rank it above hopkins and jones because i think joe was a big favourite going into those fights, though in hindsight the hopkins win looks more impressive now following him destroying pavlik.

the lacy and kessler wins were also good because these were deemed as 50-50 fights before they fights started.

THIS SPEAKS VOLUMES FOR THOSE WHO PRETEND TO KNOW OF CALZAGHES RESUME:

charles brewer SMW:won the IBF belt following jones vacation of it,and lost 2 questionable SD's to otke

richie woodhall :eek:lympic bronze medalist by way of losing to roy jones in which jones recieved his infamous silver medal,he beat thulani malinga(a guy who defeated nigel benn) to capture the WBC belt

yes they arent greats, but bums, no way!

    you have just been owned
