LONDON - Monte Barrett tonight announced his retirement from boxing shortly after his fight with David Haye. The news came in a post-fight press conference, and was all the more shocking considering it came less than an hour after he knocked out the British challenger in the first round of the bout. "I figured this was one to go out on," Haye told assembled reporters. "The fact is, the heavyweight division hasn't been the same since they started over-hyping C-level competition like Haye. I mean, I threw a weak jab and the guy dropped like the stock market." Asked to comment, Haye used hand signals to indicate that his broken jaw had been wired shut and pointed to his trainer, who said David was taking some time off and would be returning to the ring as a lightweight by Spring.
