I like Pryor via decision. His speed and unorthodox style would give Chavez too many problems. If Pryor lacked durability he might well got stopped down the stretch. However, Pryor could take a punch and never looked like being seriously troubled during his prime. Chavez's, straight up and down, measured style would provide Pryor with confidence to get off with his shots. And I see this being a distance fight, no question about it. I don't see any evidence whatsoever to suggest that Chavez would have stopped Pryor. He'd rock him and show enough power to earn respect, but thats it. I just see Pryor's style and ability to punch from all angles being his main ingredients. He's also got the option of moving laterally and popping out the jab. Pryor would vary his game against Chavez, who would be coming forward at all times.

I'll take Aaron Pryor. Speed, power, unorthadoxy, ability to fight inside or out.
Pryor takes more early rounds, than Chavez takes later ones.

Pryor was more comfortable at the weight, and would benefit from Chavez coming to him.

Chavez was underestimated as a defensive fighter and would be competitive thoughout, but I would fancy Pryor to edge a potential war.

Chavez would win a decision by taking the later rounds. Chavez uses less energy up to get to the places that hurt. Pryor would take an early lead but would lose the final rounds. A UD with Chavez up by about 3 points.

I think Chavez will eek it out. Just.

Pryor will win most of the early rounds but when the initial pace of the fight dies a little, the steady technique of Chavez will start shining through and he'll start finding Pryor more and more. I can picture a sensational end to this fight with both men going at it in the final round to secure the win. Chavez will catch Pryor off balance and send him to the canvas in an otherwise even, breathtaking round of exchanges.

Chavez 8-7 in a fight worthy of the tournament final.
