Bowe, no doubt. Wlad has shown his weaknesses when he has (supposedly) been in his prime. Bowe's prime, as short as it was, was well above Wlad's

    Bowe and Toney.

I know no more overrated boxers on ESB.

Bowe was getting spanked by Golota who is the only half-good big HW he agreed to fight. He blatantly ran from LL and made his name off of little Evander. Completely pathetic actually.

Toney. Well, Toney's best win for a decade almost is Jirov who never amounted to much and only is remembered by Toney fans because they need his name to hang their praise of Toney on. Very unstable and overrated fighter here on ESB.

That's the popular line - but the score cards were actually pretty close in the first fight till Golota decided to go nuts. Besides, Bowe was finished by the time he ran into Golota anyway.

I'm as big a Lewis fan as there is, and not a Holyfield fan in the least, but Bowe's trilogy with Evander showed what he was able to do, and THAT is more than Wlad could hope to.

    i picked wladimir by KO/TKO.

the more upright and boxer-like a fighter is, the better wladimir does.
vitali is the one who is more comfortable with brawlers and unorthodox fighters.

also bowes best punch in my opinion was his uppercut, something you gotta be real close to pull off, and a punch i dont really see wladimir getting hit with in a potential match up due to wladimir being a master of distance against boxer-like fighters.

bowe brawled well against holyfield, but remember holyfield was short and coming up from crusierweight meant he could get away with it. against golota, bowe was losing both times until golota went all funny in the head like he does. he also got stunned by holyfield, who was never a big hitter at any time really. well 1 punch power i mean. wladimir in my humble opinion is a ATG puncher. his power combined with precise technique is awesome to watch.

also saying bowe would win because he had 3 wars with holyfield doesn't say much. look at hopkins recent shutout of pavlik. pavlik ko'ed cold the man who beat hopkins. but hopkins made easy work of pavlik. so the old adage of styles makes fights suits this fantasy matchup.

in fact i would go so far as to say prime holyfield poses more problems for wladimir than bowe because holyfield is shorter, and is more of a hooker/brawler type. bowe is upright and punches relatively straight which wladmir will be more comfortable around.

in their primes i would go with wladimir everytime. the only way bowe could win is if wladimir is tired towards the end of the fight and bowe sneaks in one of his famous uppercuts to change things but really, this is a long distance shootout with wladmir circling and peppering bowe until he drops a picture perfect right down the middle.

Give me a break. Wladimir is gun shy against tony Thompson, so he wouldn't be throwing any "right down the middle" against a Riddick bowe. Bowe would destroy Wlad from the inside or the on the outside, he had a good jab himself, and more than enough power to knock Wlad out. I hope people don't rate Bowe on his performances against Golota, it's what he did before that in the Holyfield fights. A great fighter.

Bowe's prime was so ridiculously short that it's hardly worthly of being compared to the long-term dominant reign of a true champion like Wlad.
Could Bowe on his best day beat Wlad head to head. Probably but a prime should involve other factors. How long was it? How many top fighters, top-ten quality opponents did you defeat in said prime, how well did you keep yourself in top shape and focused on improving your craft, etc. On these criteria Wlad has a superior prime. Also Bowe was as crazy as a hoot-owl and at one point kidnapped his own wife. Yeah, real great for the image of boxing there Riddick.

Well, Bowe would have a better chance at Wlad than he would at Vitali.

Bowe is a difficult fighter to rate really, because his prime was relatively short and his resume is thin on the ground, if brutally honest. What can not be questioned is his talent/potential.

Wlad has shown signs of being vulnerable mentally (not so much physically) and as such retreats well within his comfort zone, becoming gunshy and giving the impression that he wants to do as little as possible in order to win.

Bowe ran like a ***** away from Lennox Lewis, who is (in some ways at least) similar to Wlad - albeit better in pretty much every department.

Tough one to call - I will sit on the fence for a change.

I have sided with Wlad. Just because a fighter has a weakness does not mean that his opponent is invincible.

    So it goes like this:

Wlad wins in 6 and people say it does not count because Bowe was clearly shot. :smoke
