Practice the techniques in front of a mirror (the proper techniques) - imagine someone throwing punches to add to the quickness of the slips/ducks. When hitting the heavy bag, move around, cut angles, slip, duck, to simulate it as an opponent. If you have a double-end bag, use it.
shadow boxing (im undefeated in this...and never got a mark on me) double end bag to simulate attack comign towards you. put a bit of swing on the heavy bag so is to move back and fourth so it gets your legs to move and such. i have apassion for making boxing equipment (made my own heavy bag and the such) i made a doubled end bag of the inside of a football and a mass of garden rope. had avery good wing and did get alot of bounce fomr it. alas it broke and i have made a new bit of equipment that i shoudl patent.. i call it "the vantage defence and offence inclusion device" a leaded ball about the size of your fist wrapped in cotton and gauze to which you smack into the rafters so the harder you hit it the faster it comes back and thus about 3 mins in your getting attacked by this wadand need to slip block move and counter to not let it hit you.....i am trying to create a device that can stop the thing tho :nod good day sirs
You could also have someone throw a tennis-ball (previously tied to his or her fingers) at you from a right distance; all you have to do (and it's not that easy) is keep your hands folded at your back or hanging at your sides, while you try to escape the touch of the ball (ducking, weaving, slipping, all the lot)
All the time, even when riding my bicycle. Sometimes I think I'm on my own and I get caught, people think I'm crazy
i do it out of habbit. whenever i pass a mirror i feel the sudden urge and need to just start shadow boxing.
Yeah, than if you dont train a day, you will get in those punchy moods where you just hit random ****.
I'd say shadow box, but make sure you have correct form in the mirror. Also i would try visualisation as well. Think honestly of when you get caught [ie right's when moving back], then shadow box and imagine a right coming at you when you're moving back. Practice and practice and practice and practice, them defences from those punches and footwork of that defence, then imagine those avoiding those same blow's in front of a bag then punch the bag how you would counter, to develop power. Gene tunney was about to fight, a great left hooker once and he purposely got some other guy in his camp with a great left hook. Then gene made this guy throw hook after hook at him untill the guy couldn't hit him. Now the thing is at first the guy couldn't miss him! I hope that story illustrates my point, there is an incredible power in diligent practice.
