Actually it started after the Hopkins/Pavlik fight. The Dawson hype has little to do with Chad Dawson as a fighter.

He earned the pay day. Just like alot of people fight Oscar for, that's boxing for you.

You don't disagree with my point about him not fighting Pavlik, all arguments aside, Hopkins had something to prove, Calzaghe didn't.

The Tarver fight was a clear shut out, and he schooled Woods big time. He was blowing later on but that was the only indication he was possibly "shot". Woods was pretty much lined up as Joes next opponent, imo, Tarver blew him away. All the... oh Woods didn't turn up etc etc.. will not change the fact Tarver gave him a one sided beating.

As far as Dawson losing to Glen Johnson goes - well many say the same about Reid, and Calzaghe (not me) - I'd rate Glen as a superior fighter to Reid. How did Joe do against Johnson anyway? We all know what happened there...

Johnson is a tough character, and there is no shame in a young fighter scraping a win against him.

As far as the OP goes, neither Dawson or Kessler have proved they deserve the tag of "Great" yet, imo, but they are both perhaps on the same sort of level - and both may go on to do Great things in the future.

chad dawson is the best 175 pound fighter in the world. if joe calzaghe disagrees, he needs to fight him.

I'm aware that Jeff Lacy and Chad Dawson are not the same person, yes.

Calzaghe already said he doesn't want to fight Hopkins again so no Hopkins and Dawson shouldn't fight to see who gets to fight Calzaghe. DId Jones fight any top 20 175 pounders to get a shot at Calzaghe???:huh

Dawson has the IBF but gave up the WBC to fight Tarver so he really is the WBC and IBF champion.

That is the point though, Calzaghe doesn't need to fight him.
