i read today that rendall munroe could be inline for a tilt at wworld honours !

would he fair well against the likes of vasquez or jm lopez?

personally i'd prefer him to go for molitor

anyone got any views on this one?

I wish him the best - should get a good pay day win or lose, i hope he wins but he will have it up against him.

imo vasquez to powerful and relentless and lopez just unbelievable punch power at the weight.

like you i'd like him to do it, but........

don't think he'd disgrace himself is a top fighter

WBU Vacant? I can't see him fighting for a world title IMO.

To remind people he is fighting in Ireland defending his Euro titile against Italian Fabrizzio Trotta (13(4) - 4 - 2)

I think he has a decent future ahead - a couple more defences and it may be time to have a go.

Better to try and lose than not to and regret it. That's why I don't understand Pickering being criticised for dropping to bantam for a world shot.

IMO, this would be the outcome against the elite at 122.......

    Vasquez mid round KO
    Marquez mid round KO
    Molitor wide UD/late stoppage
    Lopez early KO
    Caballero clear UD

The rest I would give him a chance against to be honest. Ponce De Leon is nothing special, and most of the others have pretty padded records if honest.

I like Monroe, but he's not at that level.

Any of the current champions would handle him easily.

Even some of the guys in that division without titles are damn good fighters; thinking about Rafael Marquez and Jhonny Gonzales here, as well as guys a layer below that like PDL, Bautista and a few others.

Its going to be very hard for Monroe to make an impact.

To be fair, Rafa Marquez is better than any of them, other than Vasquez - whom I believe he is on a par with.

I've been very disappointed with Munroe since he put in that excellent performance to take the title from Martinez. First he boxes Bouaita who had a 60-40 win-loss ratio. Got the stoppage but Bouaita wasn't even interested on the night (not Rendalls fault I know).
Then he fights Martyirosian who had only fought 1 guy with a winning record in his previous 4 bouts (only 13 fights in total) and looked far from convinicing that.
Now he is fighting Trotta who, lets be honest, is a big sack of ****.

He turned down the obvious fight with Dunne citing that the challenger should come to him and fight in england instead of Munroe fighting in Ireland (seemed perfectly reasonable at the time). Then Munroe goes and fights in Ireland in a shite venue, as basically the sideshow for Sutherlands pro debut. He could have fought Dunne in a better venue for a career high pay day but instead he ends up fighting some Italian no mark for peanuts.

I don't get him at all. He should have jacked in the binman stuff for a couple of years and concentrated on giving boxing a real shot. When he didn't do that the obvious thing would have been to take the biggest purses he was offered but he hasn't done that either.

If he produces another questionable display against Trotta I really am going to start to think that the Martinez win was a bit of a flukey one off. I thought he looked like a good fighter at the level but he seems afraid of trying to step it up at all.

As for world level, his powder puff punches would be his downfall. He doesn't have the power to discourage my granny from walking him down so he'd never keep the elite fighters off his case. For such a big looking bloke he has no pop! I know I may sound a bit harsh on the lad but it is because I am frustrated at the way he has gone about things since winning the EBU.

And also throw into the mix that SBW probably has the most strength in depth of any division while at the same time not having may marquee fighters.

    Vasquez, Juanma, Molitor, Cabellero

Marquez, De Leon, Gonzalez, That Thai lad with the ridiculous name I can never remember, Bautista, Cordoba

There are 10 tough opponents without thinking about it,

maloney saying this but i cant see it happening, munroe seems like an honest guy but sbw is a very tough weight to win genuine world titles at, i presume the would go the molitor route, he has fought in england before and looks the weakest champ but even he is a handful

Munroe is way of being even a top 1 fighter at super bantam. not because theres anything wrong with him, i rate the guy, but sbw is a **** hot division. he should jsut make decent money defending the euro belt, maybe set up a fight with marsh the british champ or the commonwealth champion, have a big money fight with Dunne in ireland. this would be 2 nice years for the guy, by then Lopez, Vasquez, Marquez, Cabalerro, Molitor and the rest may have all moved up and he can get an alphabet.

there not even big money in fighting those guys currently as anything below feather people seem to not follow as much. if he was to fight a vasquez or lopez now, his career would be over.

He would spend three rounds running from Vasquez or Marquez before getting put to sleep.

They couldn't even back each other up with their power, so I doubt Rendall could make a dent.

It be similar to lockett taking on pavlik i guess, and the bin man stuff needs to go and really have a crack at it.
Maybe he doesn't feel he can do it and all maloneys talk is to sell tickets for the next fight imo

I think he's pretty good. Reminds me a little of Duke Mckenzie. I think he is short of world class but who knows. Its a tough division thats for sure.
