something funny going on with the site? my point was, i have not seen such an exciting enjoyable performance from a heavy in ages., He looked sharp, powerful and slick.... This is going to be a really fun ride:good
He was great!:happy Only thing that worried me was that he might rely too much on his power, great as it is. He should box more and fight more intelligently, instead of going for the highlight reel KO punch at every opporunity, given his chin. Barrett dominated and hurt him a bit in the second round too...where was David's jab? Where was his boxing movement? He cannot fight like that against top HWs and hope to win! He'll get taken out!
I thought he was fighting a low quality opponent and looked good, nothing more. Haye has very good one punch power, but he doesn't seem to have much of a killer instinct, he needs to throw more combinations and his accuracy in general wasn't as good as it could be, his defence was sloppy, although this was probablly because he didn't feel much need to defend against a fighter who was so easy to read and inacurate like Barrett was. Honestly, good luck to Haye but I'm not conviced he will do what he claims he will be able to do.
Haye looked very impressive in beating Barrett. Hopefully we will see him in some great fights over the next few years.
He was waiting for the big shots constantly and threw the 2nd round away because of that. Hope he goes for Wlad first as he will be easier to win than Vit
I'd like to see him use his jab more, handy for both clocking up points but also to try to goad his opponent into throwing the shots he can counter. I'd also like him to try blocking a bit more rather than just using head movement and reactions. But really, very little to argue with. Even if someone sees him as a no-chinned wonder, Haye's heavy punching has to excite on that someone's-going-down level...and marketability wise, he's an absolute winner. Those complaints on General about him are really all just grist to the mill. If he wasn't considered dangerous he wouldn't be talked about.
dunno if it was the size of barrett...but i thought haye looked massive in there.. then i seen klitshko standing near to barry mcguigan...now thats massive...mcguigan looked like a leprechaun..
They're the same height and have the same reach, but Haye is more explosive and more dynamic...so he looks more impressive.
It was exciting, but I agree with Damon...where was the jab? He was looking to land bombs and wide open, when he could easily have set up the power shots and kept himself out of harms way with his very good, very underused jab. In the 4th he was losing the opening half of the round to a shaky, quite wild Monte simply because he was not jabbing and was getting caught with jabs. He cannot go in swinging against either Klitschko or he gets BATTERED. He needs to be aggressive and attack, but work the openings with the jab and with shots thrown when there is a genuine gap and not leading off with a ****ing overhand right. But his speed and power all looked great and he did not even land any flush bombs to have Monte all over the place and down 5 times. But bear in mind he is not going to be able to dent Vitali and so the other aspects need to be focused on, every fight cannot be treated like it is Enzo Mac in the opposite corner.
Barrett was very poor it has to be said. You can argue Haye was a big reason for his poor display, but from the minute he fell over the ropes Barrett looked C class. I don't think this win proves Haye is ready for a Vitaly fight
I think Haye would be able to hurt Vitali... its his speed that makes him dangerous as much as his strength.
