Winky says HBO is trying to get him in the ring in FEB against Abraham

i think its a dangerous fight for abraham to take, who knws what winky is like at the minute. Also if he did win he may not get that much credit for it due to winkys inactivity

 

I think this is a good fight to take for AA. If he can stop Wink, then it is a step closer to a unification fight.

 

This is a very hard fight to call. On paper Wright holds all the cards, his consistent jab and higher work-rate should be enough to take rounds and win on points should it go the distance.

But at the same time he's been inactive, he's old and looked faded in recent times, can not hurt Abraham at all with his punches. Very real chance Abraham could be the first to break through his guard and KO him.

You make good points here and I pretty much agree, but it all falls apart if Winky is too far gone. Abraham is live, hard-hitting, accurate and hungry. I wonder if ol' Wink can even put down the Krispy Kremes long enough to get down to 160. A prime or even near-prime Winky outpoints AA, but i'm not at all confident that Winky is even near-prime at this point. :think

 

When I rank Winky as #2 at 160 I do make certain assumptions.

1) I assume he is serious about making noise at 160.

2) I assume he is still capable of making 160 without being drained.

3) And finally, I assume that with some work and dedication he can still fight at the level he performed against Taylor.

If my assumptions are correct Winky beats everybody at 160 except Pavlik. I just hope we get the chance to find out.

 

Bad fight for AA...Winky is a tough nut to crack for a guy like AA..If they want to make a name for him its not a wise pick.

 

Winky would beat Pavlik much the way that hopkins did. They are almost the same fighter, which is why thier fight was sooo boring and really a too clase to call fight.

 

Interesting fight. Very similar styles.

Abraham is essentially Winky Wright, with less punches and huge power.

I can see that. Both use a very strong guard - in fact they may have the most stand-out significant guard-defenses in boxing.
