Golota has nothing to be ashamed of. I really hope he doesn't fight again. I wish life would have wrote a better ending to his boxing career but it didn't. He accomplished more than most will give him credit for and he will go down in my book as an uncrowned champion! (both Byrd and Ruiz knew they were given gifts!)

 

Yes, this is true. Especially the Byrd fight. I was never so mad in my life when that draw was announced. How many times did Byrd touch the canvas & no KD was awarded? Golota's best round was the 12th & that IDIOT Melvina Latham gives the final round to Byrd, which is what sealed the deal to screw Andrezj.

Wow! He wasn't lying. Not that I thought he was, but you never know what people think when you quit in a fight like that.

Obviously it doesn't look like he quit at all. Looks like he was incapable of continuing by the looks of it.

If this is truly the end for Golota then I'd like to thank him for all the memories. Win, lose or draw he provided a whole bunch of them for us fans. For that I'm extremely grateful. It was a frustrating but fun career ride.

Golota is still in high hopes that he might come back and fight. In the media he is saying worse case it will be up 4-7 months to heal, which would mean the end of boxing, and best case 7 weeks.

He seems interested in the Adamek fight in the interview saying that Adamek thinks he is out of his mind thinking he can stand in the ring with him, and that he can beat him as is right now with one hand. His rule is, he doesnt hit children, women, and Adamek.

So he seems to be fueling that idea. But time will tell how his injury heals.

 

I believe this is true. Scoop Malinowski just wrote me & said that Golota is in good spirits & is hoping for a speedy recovery. Sounds like he's not done, yet.

The have made their way to Fight News now. I am glad bc more ppl will be able to see that the Austin fight was a fluke.

 

With all due respect, he went down from Austin's first shot. He was not injured when the fight started. How can you call anything that followed 'a fluke'?

To be honest I thought (and think) that Austin is a lot tougher than many give him credit for (mainly courtesy of the way Wlad disposed of him). I suspected the fight would not be a walk in the park for Golota. But Andrzej showed all his old vices - started cold & very stressed. He displayed a lot of heart to make it to the end of the round, but cmon... the first punch could well have ended it... no fluke there.

 

Yea, there's no way he should have gotten caught like that. The punch didn't hurt him but still. In less than 1/2 minute into the fight he was already looking at his arm.

 

I agree. I've heard many people suggesting that he should spar a round or two immediately before any fight. I'd imagine Colonna does something like that (if they haven't tried that, it's criminal). So it's probably the period between leaving the changing room and getting to the ring and waiting for the fight to start that causes him to re-freeze... Not much you can do about that, I guess.

 

Maybe fluke was a bad choice of words. I take nothing away from Austin for KO'ing Golota in the first 3 seconds of the fight. Golota continued to show that he can be be rushed and hurt if you come at him at the start of the bell. Shame on him for that. But I feel that had he not been injured, he would have made it out of the round and it could have been a different fight. Austin still could have won, but I would have liked to see what happened without the injury. It could have turned out to be really interesting.

 

Austin gave it his all and was spent. Had the fight continued with no injury Golota steam rolls him.
