"His handlers, Jeff Wald of Tournament of Contenders and Lou DiBella, don't want Codrington to fight anymore and believe he'll retire. If Codrington does, he should walk away with his head held high -- he gave fight fans compelling TV during his season on "The Contender" and one of the most memorable fights you'll ever see." - Dan Rafael Apparently he put together a terrible performance against someone who was 8-21 or something like that. Seems like the Bika fight ruined him. Sad to see something like this happen. He's no world class operator but I would have liked to see him fight on.
That would be a shame..Apparently he is a real likeable kid. He has been down to oz and few times, some local fighters who have met him reckon he is a champ. He has been out for over a year and you couldnt expect him to come back great from the Bika fight. Maybe he will stick at it a bit longer.
Dam, was an entertaining fighter. I thought he was going to get his career back on track after the Green loss, but unfortunately not. I wish him the best of luck.
The way he destroyed Vera and Johnson was pretty brutal aswell. He was the stand out fighter in the series up until the final. His chin and the fact the doesnt have the defensive ability to protect it were always going to see him fail at the top level, or even just below it. But he really had some offensive talent which made him good to watch. Hope he keeps going but only if he is well.
It's too bad if true, but better to retire than to stick around too long and take too much unnecessary punishment. Win or lose, I'll always give props to guys who try to make fights "fights", and JC definitely fit that bill.
When Alan Green literally pummeled him to death early on in his career I was shocked. Now in hindsight a lot of people thought that Green was the favorite when in fact Codrington was supposed to be the next big thing. I would agree with dibella et al's assessement and Hope jaidon the best out of the ring.
