Do all the journeymen and boxers whose names we don't know have to work other jobs?

I really have no idea how much boxing pays at the lower levels so im not sure if they have to do it part time until they take off.

Did that have much of an impact on your training, having to work as well as train.

to most people boxing is only a part-time job, calzaghe for example only earned £3000 in his first 3 years of boxing. (20 fights).

It didn't have that much impact , you just have to be dedicated and have a firm sight on your goal! to be honest it makes work more enjoyable to know your training to become a boxer aswell as earning money !

i think it does have a major impact depending on ur job. if u r working in an office slower paced environment, it is going to be much different if u r doing hard labor in a factory or a fast paced job

Unless you are a heralded Olympic champion, most pro's do have a job outside of boxing, at least until they can make a legitimate run at a title. Nearly all of the old timers had jobs first and made money boxing on the side. Newbridgeboxing obviously has the experience. I had the same situation in the amateurs working construction jobs.

Of course they do. Even top 20 fighters tend to have part-time jobs. Until you become a contender, you earn peanuts. It takes time to improve and to get good fights. In the meantime, you have to pay the bills.

thing about it is unless ur making enough to support yourself in the long run you have to work else where even if your making a couple thousand a fight you have to realize that you cant fight forever and the money will stop
