The first showdown between Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield in 1999 was ruled a Draw by the ringside judges. In my opinion this was one of the worst decisions in boxing history. In your opinion what was the worst decision in the history of boxing if not this one?
There are to many WORST DECISIONS and they happen all the time in fights on and off tv. The one that sticks in my head the most is Hagler & Leonard. I had the fight as an DRAW. Hagler was a victim of his on vicious he gave away four rounds and that was too much to overcome, then if you look at that pivotal round 7 it could have went anyway.
RJJ is the one that jumps to mind..and it changed boxing forever as he wouldnt leave the US to fight he could of fought Joe Calzaghe and Darius outside of the US
Johann Trollmann's stripping of the German BDB light heavyweight title from German boxing authorities, because of "bad boxing style", must be the worst decision ever in the sport of boxing. I learned about this incident recently, and I must say it is disgusting.
Yes. I judged like 15 close controversial fights here on ESB...This one (along with pernell-chavez) were BY FAR the biggest robberies...Lewis CLEEAAARLY won at LEAST 8 rounds in this fight (as did pernell when he fought chavez)
I think we agreed that you made a mistake judging this fight, as it was anything BUT close. The decision was controversial, but the outcome was clear as day. :good You should do Lewis/Holyfield II sometime, that would be far more interesting.
On a big level I choose Sweat Pea and Chavez, just in general I choose the first Emanual Augustus vs. Courtney Burton fight, downright the worst decision I've ever seen. Also, in more recent time Casamayor vs. Santa Cruz. Off the top of my head I think I had Santa Cruz winning 10-2
How can you say that sticks in your mind as one of the worst decisions ever when you had it a draw? Doesn't your draw scorecard show that it was a very close fight that could've gone either way? Fights like Lewis-Holyfield I, Everett-Escalera, Whitaker-Ramirez 1, etc...were not close like that. The worst robbery overall I've seen was Coggi-Gonzalez I, but I don't know whic was the worst decision robbery in a pro fight that I've seen. Lewis-Holyfield I was pretty ****ing bad. A huge fight that was easy to score.
Agreed. A robbery isn't a fight that 50 percent of people say he won and 50 percent said he won, a robbery is when a LARGE majority disagreed with the decision.
I like judging good, exciting action fights. Holyfield-Lewis I was pretty boring...How was the sequel?
Well... this pretty much sums it up. But it's a lot more competitive than the first one. Who knows soxfan, you could end up scoring it for Evander, after you almost gave Malignaggi the fight with Cotto! :hey PS: I enjoyed the first fight more, cause I'm a huge fan of Lewis and I loved seeing Lennox own Holy. :good
