U may be right bro..horses for courses IMO...but the undeniable fact was that,Taylor was sholling Chavez thru most of that fight...Chavez tho',was doing the most damage with his shots...but I thought skill for skill, esp early on in the fight,Taylor was schooling Chavez...but like the legend he is,JC Superstar kept digging deep to controversially win at the end. Put it this way...if Taylor had Cotto's power..Chavez would'nt have made the final bell on his feet..he was simply taking too many shots.Even in the rounds he was doing the most damage he was still getting hit 3-1...Taylor had absolute zilch on those shots tho'...and as the fight winded down...he began to have even less than zilch on them...making it even easier for Chavez to walk thru them and bang him...IMO anyway. One thing's for sure...No-one can ever question Chavez's will.Ever.
IMO..this was more will over will...Skillwize,the two cats were very close..Chico,the better power, faster hands...Castillo,the better chin, better combos. Chico simply refused to lose.Mouthpiece spitting aside.
I feel that most fighters just say they're willing to die in the ring, but most aren't (at least I hope not). I think Chico was crazy enough to be willing to die in the ring. He was that type of fighter.
The more skilled guy won 9 rounds but got jobbed by the judges. Don't see the "will over skill" here.
I wouldn't qualify it for this either. Duran is not limited skillwise as Frazier is with respect to Ali, for instance.
