    1. Hopkins is a bit better defensively now than in 2001

    2. Calzaghe was SO impotent vs B-Hop that B-Hop was restricted to landing no more than about 4 clean punches in any rd, some rds he didnt land any, most rds he landed 1 or 2.

    3. Calzaghe`s prime yrs were probably 2001/02 aswell, which is probably why Hopkins pulled out of the fight spouting some cowardly BS about money, the usual trick.

    4. Prime vs prime, Hopkins still liked his breathers, Joe hs always been non-stop & therefore would still keep even Hops best rds competitive & mark my words... if Hop tried to attack Calzaghe, he would get swamped with punches. He just cannot keep pace with JC.

The best way for ANY version of Hopkins to fight Calzaghe is the exact way he tried it & the punch volume & pace would always give JC the edge..... if he tries to come forward aggressively, Joe would just plain outland him & beat him more convincingly. Calzaghe is at his best when guys come to fight which is exactly why Hopkins came NOT TO FIGHT because he knew he woud have got beat similar to the way Kessler did aka get beat comprehensively.

    Botswana :smoke

He's a promoter. Why get worked up over what he says? They are paid to lie.

Prime Jones vs Prime JOE would most liekly end up like the Hopkins bout or even the Kessler bout ..I would give the edge to Jones but I have to agree that in no way this would be an easy fight .Joe is an ugly match up for anyone .

Ahh but this was on a British public broadcast (not commercial) and it wasn't made blatantly clear that he is promoter, in my opinion.

Any casual fan is going to think that the Dawson fight is a total nothing fight - but Taylor, Johnson, or Woods are not. Fair enough if that is someones point of view but saying it for obvious commercial reasons (imo), on a public broadcast where you are there as presumable a somewhat objective pundit, isn't too cool - imo.

Never undestimate the paison factor people.. Giampa, DiBella, Stallone, ect. They'll tell you with a straight face that Marciano could have beaten any Heavyweight in history, Malignaggi is a great fighter, and Calzaghe is one of the greatest boxers to ever live. Long live Mussolini! :rofl

Joe vs. Roy prime for prime? Roy wins in the most difficult and competitive fight of his life. There probably would have been a trilogy. Shame they were born on seperate continents because they both would have gone at each other with the eager eyes and wagging tails of pitbulls if the money was right.

Joe "doesn't do rematches" - no trilogy.

Remember, no rematch with Robin Reid!

Robin Reid tagged Joe Calzaghe all night - some how a versatile, fast as lighting; Roy Jones can't.:?

Nothing new there. It's really no different than every black fighter interviewed with the exception of Shane Mosley picking Roy to beat Joe a couple of weeks ago.

We're talking about two different things here. I'm referring to relgious need, you're referring to a coincidence.

Nah, you are not going to convince anyone of that. RJJ would have beaten prime Toney and prime Hopkins 10 out of 10 times.

However, if they were to fight one fight every year for 20 years, then Hopkins would win the 10 of the them. Toney would perhaps win 1-2 (I lean towards 0 though).

The real question in terms of prime is vs Joe. They would probably split 10 fights 5 to each.

How many fighters in his 40 odd fights has he made go down for the 10 count. Who were they, of what quality boxer, and when was the last time he did it? Come back with the answers or don't come back at all!
