Highlight video: Lennox Lewis' career best landed punches

I just saw the "trash" stuff with Bowe, which I never heard of.
Can someone explain me why the hell he dropped the WBC belt like a trash ?

Lewis was his mandatory and people say Bowe's handlers made him do that. I forgot who it is he wanted to make a fight with. I know it sure as hell wasn't Lewis though.

 

Funny thing about the Mercer fight is when it ocassionally shows the score cards and after all that punching that Lennox is doing the cards are still close making it fairly obvious that there's alot more to it than that clip.

 

That wasn't just a clean shot though it was a monster left hook... It was sick..

 

Be fair, I think you're after the "Lewis gets punched a lot" video that Barneyrub put together a while ago...a 'best landed punches' video wouldn't be made up of Lewis getting punched in the mug would it...

I've seen his later career, Steward-era fights so much, I'd actually slightly forgotten how quicker he was when he was younger. That's obvious I suppose, youthful speed, but that right hand was a cannon. You can see his technical shortcomings but a good punch like that covers a lot of faults.

 

So that's the way Bowe avoided Lewis... a shame he did not fight him.

 

The clips from Lewis-Mercer would also be a good fit for that thread here about how good Mercer's chin was...I've never seen any other Lewis opponent take shots like that and barely budge. Even guys like Mavrovic, Holyfield and Tua took backwards steps or were shaken at times, Ray just practically ignores them. Even sheer momentum knocked McCall back, but almost never Ray.

 

How Mavrovic took that right hand in the 11th round I will never know...
And 3:35 of the second vid shows just what a tough ******* Holyfield was...is!

 

Some real quality footage there. Lewis was a verry complete offensive package.
