heres some advice.....join a gym....if you want to learn to survive a street fight then boxing might help your confidence but sure as **** wont save you in a real situation, go do some krav maga, or some **** like that or cross train MMA style, a serious street figh is miles away from a bit of bs sparring with your family(depends on the street fight) eg:if your 210 uncle was not your uncle and just rushed you and floored you too the ground how would boxing help ? If three people rush you simultanioulsy and start kicking you how will a mayweather guard help you ?? it wont youll get floored... im not saying that what your doing is bad its just not relevant to what you want to achieve, my advice to you would be to try join a combat gym, if your lucky there might be different martial arts gym around our area for you to try out and who knows you might find something you like and get involved in it, basically internet training is crap....it might help you a little if you already know what your doing, but nothing replaces a coach that will tell you or shout at you when you are doing something wrong, im not trying to put you down all im saying is get your ass to a gym and dont waste time doing so otherwise you will pick up really bad habits....your still young and have plenty of time to learn proper techniqu and as i said earleier who knows you might be a future champ ; ) only one way to find out....
first of all learn the classic boxing stance if u just want to become a better fighter philly shell is not good for a street fight. try shoulder rolling a bareknuckle haymaker. also u dont want to be all defensive for a street fight ur better off becomign rly agressive. also if ur not trying to be a boxer you dont need to worry about cutting weight etc. start lifitng alot with ur body building cousin to get huge. if u get huge the odds are ppl wont start fights with u or will become intimidated. plus if u do have to fight being big and strong is a huge advantage in a street fight. also join ur schools wrestling team and continue working on ur boxing technique with the videos
Hey, Thanks for the advice. I thought about that one time when I seen it on that show on the discovery channel where two guys would train with a different style every episode (Fight Quest I think it was called?). The krav maga training looked REALLY intense! The training they went through look TOUGH! The things I didn't agree on was that they use weapons and kick in the balls when ever possible. I don't like that kind of fighting... On the other hand I'm not sure if I can use any of your guys advice for my sparring session... But I'll still tell you how it goes! And on the other, other hand I will take the advice given and learn something else like krav maga. Thanks again!
"The things I didn't agree on was that they use weapons and kick in the balls when ever possible. I don't like that kind of fighting..." hahahahahaha and you want to be prepared for a street fight....there are no rules in a street fight...if you dont go for the kill youll get ****ed up end off! use everything you can...if a guy runs at you with a knife pick up a rock and bash his ****ing brains out....i know i would, i know i have... im not bragging about this i got in serious trouble because of this stuff thats why i boxe, and nowdays when i get involved in a volatile situation id rather do everything possible to avoid it nothing good ever comes out of it...
Yes. And with all due respect this is not a street fighting forum so feel free to gtfo of here with that nonsense. This section is about the sport boxing.
Boxing will work to an extent in as much your punch will be harder and hopefully more accurate then the other guys so you should have an advantage if it stays at punching range. The problem with this is it very rarely does and if some 15 stone pub brawler starts rolling on top of you trying to choke you to death all the philly shell defense in the world ain't gonna stop him. Like someone earlier said if your trying to prepare yourself for street fighting you need to combine your boxing to develop punching power and some kind of grappling martial art like judo or jiu jitsu for when it goes to the ground (which it more than likely will) plus something like krav maga to disable people with minimum effort such as strikes to the eyes and other vunerable areas as it will get very dirty very quickly if you fight someone that knows what thy're doing. Just a question but why to you want to become a street fighter? Do you want to go into pubs and start trouble with people cos that's just asking to get killed or seriously hurt cos as good as you are it's hard to beat up a gang of 10 people when they jump you outside. It doesn't seem from your posts that your that type of person and if you were i think you would've had you fair share of fights already and developed a fighting style that suits you and probably wouldn't come on here asking for tips. If you do want to be a street fighter I would recommend some books by geoff thompson as he has been there and done it by being a bouncer, but as another poster said its really not worth the aggravation that street fighting brings as you will be constantly looking over your shoulder for the guy you did over coming back at you with a weapon or gang of mates trying to even the score.
m8 if you want to box join a gym if you want t fight better join a gym you cant teach yourself the basics you cant teach yourself boxing
